So my girl has been asking me about good PS2 games cause....well I guess she wants to get back into games or something. She's been telling me she's thinking about getting an Xbox 360 or a Wii, I'm trying to convince her to get a PS3 for LBP 2.

So you know, she's not very good at video games, she'd never be able to play games like Dead Space 2 so that tells you something. She DOES enjoy side scrolling beat 'em ups like the Scott Pilgrim game and the TMNT arcade game, so recommend me some good PS2 games I can tell her about them.

The entire Jak and Daxter series, the Sly Cooper series, and Ratchet and Clank series.
All are great.

I enjoyed the ratchet & clank series; they were all fairly fun and funny without too high a difficulty curve.

Also: Other games I found very fun:
Ace Combat 4
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Star Wars Battlefront series

I'm anticipating DmC. Flame me.

The original Jak & Daxter (the others are probably too hard), Final Fantasy X has a good enough tutorial...
That's all I can come up with so far. It's been a long time since I've played a PS2 game.

Steel Lancers Arena International- underrated, kinda unknown, but surprisingly deep.

Shadow of the Colossus >.>

The Kingdom Hearts games were great and not that difficult (Granted the secret bosses are a challenge.

Good stuff for more casual players, easy to get into, easy to have fun playing, lots of room for improvement and mastery:
Soul Calibur/Street Fighter/Tekken
Dance Dance Revolution

More advanced stuff, but she may enjoy anyway:
Resident Evil 4
Silent Hill 2 or 3

High level stuff that requires a good use of 3D:
Prince of Persia

If she's into JRPGs:
Kingdom Hearts
Final Fantasy 10
Persona 3 or 4

From the sound of things, you're best off getting her a 2D fighter. They're not terribly difficult to get into, they don't have to worry about 3D, and they're probably something she can enjoy and get good at.

I don't even know if she's into those kinds of fighting games.

Also, (this is a question to every body not just the guy I have quoted) should she get a PS3?? I have an Xbox 360 so I figure we could always just swap when she wants to play the Xbox 360

I agree with a lot of these. You may also want to try Monster Rancher 4 if she's into anything like that. Champions of Norrath is also good (especially if she tries and likes Baldur's Gate) and I heard Okami is a good pick too.

Red Faction 1 (and 2 but it isn't as good)
Timesplitters 2 + 3
Robot Wars: Arenas of Destruction (Buy it now, thank me later)

It's ultimately up to you. I don't know her, so I was going on games that most girls I know enjoy. You would be surprised at the number of girls who upon walking into my dorm and discovering my copy of Street Fighter light up and talk about how that's such a cool game. You said she plays beat-em-ups, so it may hold over to fighting games. I'm just trying to give you a good list rather than naming off games I enjoy.

Oh, and if you ever get DDR, make sure you play it when she doesn't so you don't embarrass yourself when she's present. It is surprisingly difficult as the difficulty goes up. Girls like guys who can dance well. Dancing like crap is a turn off, however.
