Im a massive fan of Penny Arcade and was thinking of trying to get into more web-comics, some similar stuff would be great but im really open to reading anything. Things that wont take to much catching up might be nice, but if they're worth it I probably wont mind reading the archive anyway...

Awkward Zombie [http://www.awkwardzombie.com/] is pretty good, as is XKCD [http://xkcd.com/] and Chaos Life [http://chaoslife.findchaos.com/]

In addition to the aforementioned XKCD, check out El Goonish Shive. It's near-perfect. And the author is kind enough to provide links to previous comics to clarify anything that wouldn't make sense if you missed it.

http://questionablecontent.net/ and http://www.octopuspie.com/ are good comics if you want a little more story. However, if you want some amazing stuff, check out http://www.drmcninja.com/ it's about a ninja that is also a doctor.

VG Cats?

http://www.vgcats.com/

Spot-on video game parodies galore and some great character-driven comedy. Updates about four times a year these days. Makes for a very enjoyable archive binge, though!

And, of course, my favourite: Freefall!

http://freefall.purrsia.com/fcdex.htm

Intelligent but accessible sci-fi comedy done INCREDIBLY well. Really long, having been updated several times a month for twelve years. It is mostly plot-driven, but it also delivers a distinct punchline with each strip. Not really related to gaming, though.

How about http://www.sinfest.net/ ? It's not about video games but it can be funny and poignant in turn. I'm fond of Cat and Girl too. http://catandgirl.com/ Though they have a guest artist this week that's not too great. It's usually pretty deep and ironic.

You people actually made me login to answer this. This breaks the record, I haven't been on in over a year!

Anyways, 8bit theatre. Here's the link: http://www.nuklearpower.com/

Go to the beginning and follow it through. I'll freely admit it doesn't start off fantasting, but it starts off pretty good. And it grows and grows and grows. The author is one of the few people who's genuinly funny, and can do it without labyrinthian walls of text. Plus there's a pretty good satire of the original Final Fantasy running through it.

Lets see.

http://oglaf.com/archive/ Fantasy related comics that make fun of sex, adventurers and stupidity. Often features nudity.

http://www.drunkduck.com/Modest_Medusa/ Rather cute comic about a medusa girl.

http://www.drunkduck.com/Charby_the_Vampirate/ A vampire hangs out with a werewolf and other nasty creatures in the forest.

http://www.bearnutscomic.com/ Think carebears, just twisted and with drugs.

Homestuck. Then after you're done, go here http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WebcomicsLongRunners for all the most venerable/longest comics.

Yes, Homestuck is at the top of the list, with over 5000 pages.
