Chances are I've seen it.

I tend to not scare easily at all so I'm looking for something that will actually do that.

I love horror, but to be honest I've seen some pretty bland horrors lately. There were a few Japanese ones I've seen that were good, amongst them, the ring and the original grudge, but I wouldn't say they were as scary as everyone made them out to be.

Others (especially hollywood films) made me laugh rather then hide behind my couch, so yeah, have you seen any foreign horrors or something you can recommend, something that will really put the chills into my soul :)

I've heard Dark Water was pretty scary. At least that's what my horror buff father and sister said. Japanese one of course.

Eraserhead isn't scary per-say but it is very disturbing and makes you feel very unclean.
I'm a horror fan too and I can't remember the last movie that really scared me.

Try Robert Wise's "The Haunting". The man might have directed West Side Story, But damn did he make one hell of a scary movie.

Paranormal Activity is pretty good the first time if you watch it in the dark. And even better the second time if you watch with someone who hasn't seen it. He-fuckin-larious.

The Unborn and The Grudge (American version) to me were some of the worst "horror" movies made. Both of them you could see the scares coming a mile away, and it held none of that building dread that made The Ring (American version) something that I enjoyed. When I found out who wrote "The Unborn" I was shocked as he had helped pen Batman and TDK.

When it was out in theaters, I LOVED Paranormal Activity. It wasn't a jump out and scare you movie. It was a "You just know the monster is behind you and is gonna go abloogywoogywoo at some point" movie. Most people's problem with it is that it didn't ever have any real jump scares in it, it's all tension. But it's all beautiful tension and subtlety that just made it for me. (The sequel is a different story.)

However, much of my love of PA came from seeing it with a huge freaked out audience. The Fourth Kind (scary preview but terrible alien movie) preview was played before we watched it, so that help set the mood. Then during the moments when it was obvious on screen, you could just feel the tingle run down our collective spines. I have no idea what the movie would be like if it were without an audience. Watching it at home might just be boring. The movie never really freaked me out but gave me that unnerved "not save at home" feeling afterwards, which to me, means it was a great scary movie.

Another Horror buff here.

[REC] will make you soil yourself. Pulse, The Eye & A Tale of Two Sisters are also good. The original Japanese films, not the American remakes.

But God-damn if [REC] isn't the most terrifying movie ever.
REC is actually Italian or something like that. VERY awesome, and I have to say that I did like the remake as it was pretty faithful to the original. I want to see REC 2, but I haven't got around to it yet.

Oh btw, please do not subject your sanity to The Grudge 3, what a load of trifle that was :/

Put me to sleep, woke up and couldn't be arsed to watch what I had missed.

Exorcist seen, Dark water seen, not the Japanese one though, thats a must see

Seen unborn, it was okay.

Also saw poltergeist and the haunting.

Saw isn't scary, lol. Which reminds me, Mirrors had one good scene in it, the rest of it was a load of turd :p The messengers had some good parts too, but ruined it with the ending. I've also seen house on haunted hill, Silk (a japanese movie).

Saw a japanese movie about ghosts in a subway (which was pretty freaky at times but not scary), seen creep, seen Dog Soldiers (kick ass movie), 28 days & months (kick ass movies).

Hm, what else :/

The Messengers for me was ruined by the terrible parents. It was like "ok dear, go and play." My parents would've freaking listened. I was hoping the ghosts would get them so the girl would be free :p.

I don't really like good "Boo!" "AAH!" type horror movies. I like the type that sits with you long after you watch them, when you're alone in the dark.

Seen Paranormal Activity, liked the film, but felt that there were parts that could have been made a little better, still, it was far better then a lot of other films I've seen...such as Paranormal Entity (what a rip off!) and Paranormal Activity 2 which relied too much on loud noises to scare and obvious horror cliches, I prefer my horrors subtle, where you activly look for the ghosts or what not, rather than them popping up and going ABOOGALLABOOGALLA!!!!! And slamming some doors and shit -_- thats not scary, if I ever encountered a ghost that did that in real life, I would feel like punching it rather then running in fear.

[REC] Was a movie I wasn't expectig much from but turned out to be pretty darn amazing :D Didn't scare me, but it was definatly one I recommend to people who don't ***** about subtitles. [REC]2 got lost a little, it was still good, just lost its way.

Descent was an awesome movie as well, but like REC2, Descent 2 got a little lost :(

The haunting in conneticut

Don't really watch that many horror films lol

But if you want a film that is scary but more like it has you looking around the room in paranoia when you try to sleep, then i recommend Paranormal Entity.

The Descent scared the hell out of me. I'm not afraid of the dark or tight spaces, but the idea of subhuman creatures in a cave unnerves me.

There are definitely some horrors that had a good thing going:

Silent Hill's burning screaming children (I actually shifted in my seat seeing that in the dark cinema)

As well as:
The Grudge (Amercan) as girl drops down the stairs at the end
Messengers with the baby stretching out to touch something
Paranormal Activity with the lights down the hall coming on and the roars
The ring and the TV scene at the end

Spanish, actually.
[REC]2 is held in lower regard, though I haven't seen it & can't judge.
It was good, not as good as the first, its difficult to follow up on something superb, especially when it ended the way it did in [REC], but they managed to do it. Kinda defeats some of the purpose of the first movie, but I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it.

It's a good watch, certainly beats much of the crappy horrors I've seen lately, notably 30 Days of Night 2 ¬_¬
