You could give "Seven" a try. Sure its more of a cop thriller, but it one of those movies that the first time you watch it its a real nailbiter. It also still holds up well on rewatch since knowing who the kill is and what he has done doesn't remove much of the impact of the final scene.

The "Cube" movies (1 & 2, not the terrible prequel) are again not slashers per say but more sci-fi horror flicks with really great atmosphere.

The "Hellraiser" series might be closer to what you want, but I wouldn't watch the series past the 4th movie. Great horror flicks that have a great main antagonist with the first 2 being the best in the series.

Thanks for the reply, sadly i've seen Seven, the 1st Cube and the 1st 3 Hellraisers, but The Cube 2 sounds a winner, didn't even know they had done one..

I suppose I should of put up a list of what i've seen really

Saw, Friday 13th's, Nightmare on Elm Street's, Scream's, Planet Terror, Cabin In The Woods

Wow, really struggling to even think of them now im trying lol

Have you seen Jason X? If you haven't, watch Jason X. It's actually a very enjoyable film. Not scary but it's good for a laugh with friends.

Is that the 1 in space? If so I have...but it was a very long time ago. Something like this would be perfect...it's a shame there isn't that many good slasher horrors around anymore, i'm struggling to even think of a decent 1 since the Scream movies

Upon thinking a little deeper about it the 2nd cube is kinda meh as well. It has the sequel thing of being bigger and badder than the original. another thing that ruins it is the claustrophobic feel of the first one is wrecked by the big well lit utilitarian looking rooms which stands in stark contrast to the the poorly lit metallic rooms of the first one. They also destroy the who is doing this and why aspect of the first, although not as badly as the prequel does. Maybe sticking the first is a good idea after all.

Another on is Midnight Meat Train its another slasher/mystery/horror flick that came out a few years ago. Pretty gory movie with some really graphic kills and Vinnie Jones plays a pretty good silent psycho butcher in it.

You could also try Jacobs ladder for a rally good Psychological Horror flick. It one of the movie that you don't know whether or not what your seeing is real or not until the end. The movie is cited as a inspiration by the guys who made Silent hill too.

There is also the Halloween series, although I hate the series with a passion, and likely you have seen it since it is one the slasher "greats".

Yeah not too much of a fan of the Haloweens though the Rob Zombie remake was pretty good...

Jacobs Ladder is the Tim Robbins LSD movie, I have seen that but beyond my very short description I dont remember it at all.

Midnight Meat Train sounds like it's on the right tracks (sorry lol) i'll check that 1 out, thanks :)

She wants to watch Nightmare on Elm Street part 3...so I think thats going to be 1 of the choices tonight, though I quite like the idea of Jason X or Event Horizon.

I thought of some more:

The Maniac Cop series is another good slasher that is even more impactful if you fear/hate cops. It kinda of a what if Jason was a cop/ Revenge from beyond the grave series in the first two. The third is just a cop that is a serial/ mass murderer.

Sorority House Massacre series which is a Halloween rip off basically.

Slumber Party massacre series which features a dude who kills chicks with a industrial drill. In of the movies I think i remember the killer murders one chick in the most brutal manner I have every seen basically raping the girl with the drill turned on full power.

Night of the Demons; A bunch of teenagers go to a old house where a bunch murders happened and play wit ha Ouija board. One of the girls gets possessed and starts killing the others at the party. The possessed girl also seals the property to trap the remaining survivors and those she kills get possessed in turn.

976-Evil; People dial a number and it gives them supernatural powers, but it also steals their souls and makes them into maniac killers.

The 80's really were the golden age for this stuff other that meat train and Cabin there haven't been many of these in recent memory. Its all shot on shitteo jump scare films nowadays.

edit: There is also the Sleepaway Camp series which is a Friday ripoff with a female killer in the 2nd and 3rd one and a surprise killer in the 1st.

Yeah the 80's were amazing for these types of film, I guess it's why Scream did so well in the late 90's with the nostalgia.

Manic Cop is amazing! I think I might of only seen the 1st, so number 2 is now on the list if I can find it :)

I haven't even heard of those others but Slumber Party Massacre sounds delightful. lol

the 80's had a genre of film thats pretty much died out now apart from the odd film and thats the horror comedy genre, its a good mix

my suggestions would be:
killer klowns from outer space, everything 80's at its best
the blob.. 80's version
the adventures of buckaroo banzai across the 8th dimension.. not horror but seriously a cult classic
tucker and dale vs evil.. great horror comedy
the woman.. a truly fucked up little horror movie that hardly anyone has heard of, great ending and lots of surprises

The Dickies are 1 of my favourite bands so I definitley know about the Killer Klowns. Tucker and Dale was the perfect horror comedy, very funny! Can't say i've heard of The Woman, google comes up with 1 from 1939 and 1 from 2011 are these the ones you mean? Thanks for the suggestions :)

Housebound sounds pretty good, got some decent ratings too, though I haven't looked at the review just in case it spoils it. This 1 is on the list, thanks :)

John Carpenters "The Thing"

It's the best movie ever made and the best horror movie ever made. Anyone that says anything else is stinking liar!

There's actually a lot, most of them just went straight to video. But if you're looking for slasher films:

-Pretty much any of the "Hatchet" movies are good, old-school slasher movie gorefests.

-"Tucker and Dale vs. Evil" is an absolutely hilarious send-up of slasher movies, I'd highly recommend it.

-"Freddy vs. Jason" was shockingly enjoyable.

I'm going to assume you've seen most of the high profile classics, as well as the popular stuff the 80's, so I won't waste your time with that.
Here are some I've seen that are a little more obscure:

Brain Damage - Very bizarre one about a parasite that eats brains via a host whom it manipulates by asking politely.
Not messing with you, that's what happens.

Basket Case - A little more well known (and from the same director as Brain Damage), it's a about a dude who may or may not be a serial killer who carries a basket everywhere he goes, what's in the basket? Well you just have to see it.

Terrorvision - this one is less of a straight horror movie and more of a horror comedy, it's about a monster/alien/thing that gets teleported into a suburban home, that sounds like the premise for a family movie but trust me, it is definitely not. Basically it's "the 80's: The movie," and if that sounds like your kinda thing, you're going to like it.

The Cabin in the Woods - You may or may not have heard of this movie, but if you havn't then all I can say is this: DO NOT LOOK IT UP, JUST WATCH IT. Do not Google it, do not do an Imdb search, do not ask anyone what it's about, just see the movie.
You'll thank me later.

Alice Sweet Alice - I don't like this movie, but I'm pretty much wrong. It's a slasher/mystery movie with a heavy religious theme, it's genuinely disturbing and has an atmosphere about it that just feels... wrong. Personally I think the twist at the end is really fucking stupid, but allot of other people seem to really like it so judge for yourself.

The Return of the Living Dead - I had assumed that this movie was common knowledge umong horror fans, but I'm seeing more and more people nowadays who don't know it, if that's the case with you, then you need to see this movie. It's the perfect balance between horror and comedy, and honestly I think I'd call it my favorite non-George Romero zombie movie.

And of course the obvious stuff, Halloween 1-4, The Evil Deads (and Army of Darkness, even though it's not really a horror movie per say), anything by John Carpenter, Nightbreed, Re-Animator, etc. etc.

Have you seen Laid to Rest? This is a Friday the 13th style slasher flick through and through. It's really cool. It also has this iconic character: Chrome Skull. There is a sequel as well, which is alright but nowhere near as good as the original. If you like '80s slasher flicks you really can't go wrong with this one. The first film is from 2009 if I believe.

I second this recommendation. It's a must see movie.

Ooooo! This one has a (mild) superstition tie-in! The Relic. Pretty decent monster movie.
