Recommended "canon" build for KOTOR?

Through the android port, I'm finally gonna try playing through KOTOR, but, as...
Revan
...is technically still canon, I want to stick to canon as much as possible.

That said, can anyone give me the cliff notes on...
Revan's
...canonical abilities as far as the game's feats go?

P.S. I'm planning on playing a Soldier because I tend to veer towards warrior classes, and I don't think class really matters because...
Revan, apparently, was canonically a badass mix between every class
...but what do you doods recommend as far as closest to canon class go?

Revan was basically your proto-typical badass. I'd focus on melee/lightsaber feats and away from ranged ones. Feats such as conditioning/vitality ones would be more appropriate than straight skill boosts or say the implant one. As far as force powers go, Revan is pretty much your jack-of-all-trades guy with both light and dark powers. Going off of the current SWTOR lore, Revan has no problem using everything from healing to buffing to lightning. Maybe stay away from the wound/kill and the life drain powers? Seems a bit too dark for him. Revan also is very big on the friends/companions/etc so I'd go for some of the buffing force powers (can't recall specifics off-hand, but they're pretty obvious when looking at the chart in the light-side section).

Class actually can matter some. The largest difference comes in the skill vs feat breakdown when you level up. On the [feats . If you're planning on going soldier, make sure that you pick companions who can account for your lack of skills (especially computer use and security). Also, Persuade is a must have skill on your pc as only your char's skill counts for that one.

Again, that whole mess does go out the window once your powers are gained again. For a balanced Jedi like Revan was, you'll probably want to go Jedi Sentinel. That's the jedi class that's right in the middle of the feats vs powers scale.

Pro-tip (if you've never played before): Level-Ups are free health and force power refills.

Sigh... This.

I wanted to be a badass gunslinger, but nope, "you're a Jedi, Revan". I had to resort to mods on my first try just to get through the game.

Light-side male, Revan was incredibly adept with a lightsaber in addition to being powerful in the force, therefore Jedi Sentinal is probably the best choice when you reach it. But note that Revan was also a master manipulator and tactician, and not afraid of doing underhanded things to get he wants, so none of this goody two-shoes rubbish. Agree with the above that the choke and life drain powers are probably a bit too dark for Revan.

Note: This is based off KotOR I & II, as I haven't played played SWTOR and never will.

EDIT: Spoilers

Thanks for the responses, but you doods know that I mentioned Revan in spoilers for a reason, right? Yeah, really old game, but there might be people interested in playing the game that also live under as big a rock as my ex does (and her rock's so big that, before I introduced them to her, she never heard of games as mainstream as the likes of Borderlands).

Having played the game so much over the years I kinda forgot that there actually is a bit of a major story point. Sorry, edited previous comment.

Well, in fairness it is a bit hard to discuss a "canon" build without spoilers. So you either end up with a bunch of people having to repeat the spoiler tag over and over again like you did (which does get annoying to type every time) or go phrase stuff really vaguely which makes everything they say really strange.

I think the more appropriate option would have been to just include "spoilers" in the title.

To be fair, could've done what I did and kept the original spoiler tag in the clipboard. Copy the original, paste it wherever needed, and alter it based on your needs. On top of that, it's pretty well known that you become a Jedi (or Sith, if you so desire) at some point in KOTOR, yes?

Yes, it is, but I don't really see how that's really relevant.

Well, part of the question also involves the closest to canon Jedi class. Don't have to mention the specific reasoning why Sentinel is the closest to canon Jedi class (in case anyone who hasn't played it don't know why).

That was annoying as Hell. My main guy spent most fights unconscious on the ground. Still, once Jedi unlocked, it was worth it.

If you are looking at keeping him canon, you will need to take in to account his presence in the MMO The Old Republic. So I would suggest playing him as "grey". Neither light nor dark but somewhere in the middle. Also you will need to have Force Lightning, and a purple lightsaber.

Well, his appearance in SWTOR doesn't really count for KOTOR since...

That Revan was betrayed, locked away for 300 years with a insane emperor messing around with his mind and lost everyone he cared about. So he is a bit insane by that point... Not that excuses the bad writing, or his initial awful plan that was never going to work, or his late awful plan that was never going to work in the expansion. So much for "Great Strategist" I guess...

He's pretty much lightsided in KOTOR according to "canon" (I believe there's a canon resolution for every quest in the game, but I am getting this from the top of my head, so don't quote me on that) and playing Grey is discoraged from a gameplay point since you won't have bonuses for powers that way.
But yes, Purple Lightsaber. They are awesome.

Eugh, this is why I'm not bothering with SWTOR, they've completely butchered everything Obsidian built with TSL.

A male Jedi Guardian or Sentinel with a focus on melee combat and light side powers. Single lightsaber, blue blade. "Mullet guy" head for appearance.

In other words, your typical "white bread" Jedi.

Yeah, tripe like that is one of the reasons why I never bothered playing TOR. I don't even consider it to be canon. Sifting through the story feels more like reading a bunch of bad fanfics cobbled together.

I also dislike how closely the game's visuals try to ape the movies. Dark side? Throw in a bunch of Darth Vader and Boba Fett lookalikes! Light side? Robed Jedi, Han Solos and some Clonetrooper stand-ins for those diehard Clone Wars fanboys! It robs the era of its "similar yet distinct" aesthetic established in KOTOR. It also begs certain questions, such as why the prequel-era Jedi never raised any eyebrows at the Republic's adoption of the Sith Empire's logo (or all those Sith-like star destroyers they commanded).

This is generally true, but it very much depends. The soldier class, for example, offers very little which Jedi Guardian doesn't do better. Scoundrel, however, has some neat abilities which no Jedi class really replicates, particularly the sneak attack (which can lead to some interesting combos. The guardian's force-jump ability, for example, will often count as a sneak attack and many force powers cause targets to be immobilized, which allows them to be sneak attacked).
