I was thinking about this today, since she just sits in a retirement home and watches television all day, and I'd love for her to be able to have some control over something in her life, be able to manipulate a thing and feel succesful, so a game would be perfect. Don't have any idea what though. And that's why I'm asking here.

Some pointers: I don't think she's still capable of wildly flailing a wiimote around, or do small, controlled movements. And it would need to be super simple I guess. And not involving endless murdering things, because I don't want to give her more of a depression :D. Also note that she's as deaf as a rock. I was thinking about world of goo, but maybe that's too complicated already :D

Can she use a TV remote? I'd start her off on just that for a while then move onto a more advanced controller, like the NES.

Does she actually have any interest in videogames whatsoever? As I can see this just annoying someone who isn't interested and has no technological understanding.

I don't know about yours but there's only 1 type of game my grandmother plays with and it's card games.

She dosen't need to learn the rules, that's important to her...

You might wanna look into Hoyle card games

My grandma is seriously skilled with a tv remote. She's smart, just powerless. I can borrow any console from a friend if needed or simply bring my laptop and slowly try it out/show her.
While the first portal is a nice game to put in the hands of beginning players, its setting would creep the poor old lady out.

Because she already knows? This is smart, for sure there are real world games she already knows, so she would understand just fine.

Just for console? because the first portal game is a very nice 'friendly' game
I'm pretty sure the OP's looking for a game that won't take strenuous amounts of brain power to complete, lol. Unless you think Portal can be considered as a 'super simple' game. Which it can, depending on the gamer. But I'm pretty sure that's not exactly the case here.

On the other hand, on topic, I honestly have no idea. Flower is one that came to mind, but if your grandmother isn't that well-suited to motion-control....

Then again, there's always the possibility that she won't find anything interesting in gaming at all to begin with, as previous posters before me have said. Unless you already know her well enough to know that she'll be pretty comfortable with it.

Whatever the case, that's honestly all I can think up of, for now, lol; I'll be wishing your grandmother well in the meantime, though, and hopefully you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Sorry if this was pretty petty in regard to usefulness. :p

give her a kirby game!

It's fairly easy, very fun and has such happy scenery!
