Red Dawn Review

I saw this remake last night. And it's pretty shit. I love the original,but Josh Peck is awful and the pacing is so bad. It goes from slow, to hyperspeed, to screeching halt, to hyperspeed, to screeching halt, to hyperspeed again and then the credits roll. It doesnt end, the credits just start happening. Atleast the original had an ending. I like some of the twists they did on events in the original, but overall this movie is crap.

I know this seems like a rant, but I wanted to just let this out.

 

[Tuesday Night Fever]

I goddamn love Red Dawn (the original) in all of its cheesy, campy, 80's glory. At college my roommate and I would have it playing on our TV as background noise while we played WoW (seriously, we watched it at least once per week), and we regularly quoted the movie in conversation (AVENGE ME!!!!!). Whenever we played a video game that involved shooting down helicopters, you can be damn sure we'd be shouting "WOLVERINES!!!!!" as we opened fire.

Good times.

I haven't seen the new one yet. I saw the trailers when they first started showing up, and the movie looks absolutely awful. Like, embarassingly awful. Like, movie that the actors will deny ever being in ten years from now awful. Like... Alan Smithee awful.

And yet, I'll still see it, because I'm exactly the type of dumbass that they're marketing this garbage toward. Someone so obsessed with the original that I'll rush out to see anything related to it, regardless of its quality. Sometimes I hate myself.

That was my original thought going it. Im such a Red Dawn dork that I wanted to see how this new one played out. I saw it with a friend who is also a huge nerd and we spent the whole time before hand yellings WOLVERINES!!!

well i think it was kinda obvious it was going to suck. i mean hell it looked like modern warfare: red dawn dlc, just the same as the trailer for world war z looks like a zombie dlc pack for black ops
