Of course it's coming to PC, GTA Online proved that there's a lot of money to be swindled from people, even on PC.

was there ever a question
Red Dead Redemtpion 1 never made it to PC.....yet.
different era plus RDR1 source code was mess and it was miracle that it worked on console. GTA4 was broken on PC.

they create new engine for max payne 3 and thus PC version has been fine since then.

No they didn't. GTA4, GTA5, RDR1, RDR2 and Max Payne 3 all use the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (aka RAGE). Rockstar just made a proper PC version of Max Payne 3, instead of doing a quick port of the console versions.

GTA V sold like 12 million copies on Steam alone. Much more if you count physical copies and other stores. Rockstar would have to literally hate money not to release RDR2 on the PC.

Especially with the Shark Card craze.

You could easily say the same for Red Dead Redemption 1 on PC, and yet here we are.

I can see a couple of reasons why it didn't release on PC, plenty of game developers always had a negative view on PC as their games do not usually sell nearly as much on PC compared to consoles, so why spend a lot of money and time on optimizing a game for PC? Not to mention that more developers/publishers back then thought pirating was a big issue. One last thing could be that the horrendous port of GTAIV left a bad taste in PC gamers mouth and left Rockstar skeptical to port another open-world game to PC so shortly after.

These are just my guesses to why we didn't see a RDR1 port for PC, but Rockstar has now seen how profitable it can be to put their games on PC if they put some actual effort into it. To not put RDR2 on PC wouldn't make any sense unless they hate money and we all know they don't.

Don't forget that RDR was released at the height of the "PC Games are dying!"-era. Back in 2010 it was not a clear cut decision to port to PC if you released a console game, and it was not until 2015 or so that it became obvious that the current console generation was not selling as well as projected. But other then that, all your points are real solid and probably contributed to Rockstars decision not to port.

Maybe the modding community can fix the damn controls.
I think just being able to use a mouse would fix most of the controls. If you don't want to use aim assist aiming on an analogue stick is a real hassle. If it does come out on PC I'm gonna do another playthrough in first person like I did with GTA V.

I don't think there was aim-assist in RDR2, unless you're counting the hard lock-on. And I actually have zero problem aiming with an analog stick, even without an assist. RDR2's aiming is just really bad.

B-Cell is right about RDR 1. The source code was a mess. The game barely held together on consoles.

I wonder if this [https://www.gamespot.com/articles/red-dead-redemption-a-recurring-nightmare-during-d/1100-6438770/] had anything to do with it. Could also suggest why Rockstar is still clinging to the same game mechanics they used since GTA3. I mean, RDR2 is definitely the best iteration of it as far as nuance and immersion, but there are numerous examples of it being done better now.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
If it comes to steam I'll end up getting it at some point. But lately we see more and more big names being used to try and start their own digital stores. I mean we might not even see Doom Eternal on steam.
