Red Faction The Movie

I am sure most of you know by now that THQ and Syfy have made a deal to produce a two-hour movie based on the Red Faction video game series. Depending on how the movie performs they may also go on to make a Red Faction TV series. Will it be a flop like so many other movie adaptations of a game or will Syfy manage to pull it off? What are your thoughts on The Red Faction Movie?

I was looking forwards to it. I had high hopes for it.
But then I saw the announcement about it being aired on some TV channel I had never heard of, which probably isn't even available in this country.
Now I am just disappointed. Sure, I'll watch it if I can, but now I don't care if it does well or fails.

Why? I mean, the story aren't exactly the reason why anyone play Red Faction. I bought the first just to blow up walls, floors and ceilings in the mines. I barely finished it, 'cause it got hella hard at the end.
Never played Red Faction 2, so not sure how good the story is there.
And I only bought Red Faction Guerilla because of the awesome destruction of structures. Damn, I love that game...
But the story wasn't exactly good. So what we get is a movie about a miner on Mars who blow stuff up? With a bit of story tacked on? I doubt their budget is large enough to make the explosions awesome, or make enough explosions for that matter, so I don't think this will be a hit.

No clue as of yet. But a TV-movie sounds.. well, it has more potential of being bland and boring than anything else. Then again, Syfy have made some pretty decent stuff before, so we'll just have to wait and see...

I doubt it'll be good. they probably will take away all the destruction that made the games fun.

Well, if they re-imagine the protagonist as the human manifestation of Thor, then it might get really interesting. Otherwise, meh.

Edit: Wait a second, there's a Thor movie coming out soon, isn't there. I wonder...

Betcha that it'll be directed by Michael Bay. So it must be good.
