I'm just curious if anyone has an answer. My Xbox had just gotten the RROD after I hadn't played it for a week (makes sense right) when I started it up. I turned it off left it for a while and then turned it on again to take my CoD 4 disc out and now it works fine again. So, uh, what does that mean? It my Xbox gonna be okay then or should I still call Microsoft support?

you turned it on then turned it off...

sounds almost the same as the towel trick to me

it's probably only a temporary fix though so you might wana call them

:( IT WAS JUST A TEASE. It's dead now. The second RROD, I hate Microsoft. Time to talk to Microsoft support...

Sent mine away to be repaired today.

We made it over a year, but it finally fell to the Red Ring of Death. Damn you, Red Ring! Damn you to Heck!

How to stop RROD: Throw the 360 away and don't spend another dime on Microsoft's game business.
You are a person after my own heart. It's exactly what I did.

True, took me four replacements to figure that out, but still...

My 360 red ringed after two years of solid use. We'd been through alot together, me and that white box. My ex-girlfriend even stole it from me when I broke up with her (true story), so when the red ring appeared and my machine finally passed I was heartbroken.

Luckily, I used to work at GAME, so I called in a favour from my old manager who simply swapped my unit over for free.

Iv heard the towel trick works, for a while at least, but just get microsoft support on it, they seem pretty on the ball.

You have my sympathy.

I have heard of so many quasi-mystical solutions to the RRoD that I've figured something out:

None of them work, and the problems that initially make the RRoD can glitch in and glitch out, until they finally break all the way and never right themselves again.

So don't bother talking nicely to it three times a day on every other full moon while smoking a Camel Lite. As you've discovered, sort of broke just leads to really broke, sooner than later.

Same thing happened to me. It RROD'd, then seemed fine, then RROD'd permanently. The replacement seems alright though.

I seriously feel for everyone who has had a problem with their 360 breaking and getting multiple broken replacements. It amazes me how Microsoft doesn't see fit to fix anything when it is broken.

I've been very lucky when it comes to the red ring of death. I got my 360 back in 2005, only got the ring once, because it was too hot where I had it sitting. Never had a problem with the system, never had to replace it. Guess I got a very good machine. Although I've noticed it is starting to run a little shoddy compared to how it used to.

why didn't they fix the problem so the newer ones don't get it??? I bought my a couple weeks after x-mis this year and I am wondering if I am at less risk.
I haven't got a clue really. Although since I still hear people complaining about the problem, Microsoft obviously didn't fix it in the newer machines.

We all know there's only one solution to the RRoD.

Stampeding elephants. That and call Microsoft for a new 360. But the elephants work better, in my opinion.
