So, tonight was the release of the Season 9 trailer for RvB. I watched it about five minutes ago.

I still don't have any words to describe how awesome this is.

But...but what about the RvB crew? I wanted to see Church, Tex, Sarge, Griff, Caboose and the rest again. I hate it when franchises decided to go backward in time instead of forward.

Although I will admit, this does look pretty cool. Not seeing much humor in it though. And I find I'm suddenly very curious as to how Wash and Meta were beaten by simulation troopers that weren't 'our' simulation troopers. :)

3 children in a trench coat
This series seems to be much darker and less funny than in previous seasons, but the animation looks amazing and the entire thing looks badass, so I can't wait to watch it.

Yes! This is gonna be SWEET!!

It sucks that Caboose won't be there though.

This is probably what they meant when they said they'd show Donut in a flashback.

Yeah, I'm kind of confused, myself. When the mentioned "simulation troops", I assumed they meant "the gang". Sarge, Grif, Caboose, etc. But then they go all "before Red vs. Blue..."

I don't get it. It still looks awesome, though.

I just had a theory regarding how the Blood Gulch characters could show up.

Considering that Church is trapped in the Epsilon Memory Unit, he might be remembering Leonard's memories from the time of Project Freelancer. That means that there could still be a present day storyline going on with the Blood Gulch teams, while simultaneously playing the flashback storyline.

It looks epic, but I'll really miss the RvB crew. Hopefully the story will be told by Washington retelling his past to the reds and blues, so that we still see them. I wonder who'll be supplying the comedy now though. seeing as Wash and York and Tex aren't dumbasses.

I think the 'simulation troops' back then were slightly less retarded than the ones now, seeing as they took out the man who becomes the meta.

So, I have a question to you RvB fans. I'm a casual observer of an episode here and there, and happened to sit in on a few of the later seasons. I only have a partial grasp of the story, but it doesn't seem all that heavy. Is season 9 some kind of reboot? A re envisioning of the story?

The only time I really did some "serious" watching of the series was when they were up to season 4. There was so much dicking about that I couldn't keep my interest invested. But they really streamlined their story telling mechanic in the later eps, and I was able to keep going. There's plenty I'm unaware about, but if season 9 is like some kind of new beginning, then I think that is where I will try to keep up from.

I haven't watched it since the end of the blood gulch chronicles. I kinda regret that. And I won't start watching it now until I see seasons 4-8.

No, its a prequel to the whole series. So you probably will be a bit confused if you haven't watched the later seasons.

Saw this a couple weeks ago at PAX East and I gotta say it looks like this season is going to be absolutely epic!
