I was reading a topic about people who still play their old games when I decided to boot up a vastly outdated system and flick through some old games. Unfortunatly I find dated graphics, sound, combat etc. to be a large turn off from my old favorites. Therefore, if you could, what games would you have remade with presant technology?

Personally I would like to see some of the old final fantasy's get reved up for today's audiences.

Personally, I enjoy the old format of dated systems. Plug in, play, enjoy. But, if it had to be done, I think a remake of blast corps with todays graphics would be a pretty sweet deal. That, or paperboy...

I don't think updating games makes them better, as a rule. Indeed, I find the exact opposite. Counterstrike:Source (bait here?), Beachhead 2000, Frogger, Super Mario Bros. (in the SNES Mario pack with games 1-3 + others)... all come to mind.

If I could remake a game though, with PERFECT similar gameplay, I would say either Contra, or Double Dragon.

Or possibly going back to the Commadore 64... Ghostbusters or M.U.L.E. Yes, those games were fantastic.

Mercenaries, except, yeah, it's being done.

Metal Arms: a Glitch in the System. I want a sequel.

Finally, I want Alien Hominid for the 360.

Tecmo's Deception, except, you know, better. Add in the ability to place fixtures like fireplaces and what not to slap your enemies into, like the later games did. Use a trap system like the later games. Give the hero a sword attack. Add some replayable missions so you can rack up money and experience.

I know it's already been upgraded one generation, but I would love to see Metal Gear Solid on the present gen consoles, although then again the gameplay is not a turn off at all for me, as I'm playing it right now. Maybe that shows my age a little bit, as the Playstation was the first console I ever played.

TIE Fighter.

There's just such a lack of great space shooters out these days...not enough brown and grey and space, I guess.

Ocarina of Time with orchestrated music and graphics that don't look like a bunch of boxes.
Also, Black Mesa project = AWESOME

Dune. You know, floppy/amiga/whatever Dune. Adventure/RTS hybrid. I love that game, if I didn't finish it in one sitting when I tried it again a year ago I might still play it now.

Grim Fandango..
God help us all if anyone but Tim Schafer made it though.
It would need to be so visually appealing, and the story would have to be the same
but it could work as a remake because of its under-appreciatedness, and because of its amazing story. I've replayed it a bunch of times, and i'm sure many others have, so would I replay it another time if it was re-released with a new engine? Hell yes.

The biggest items on my list I'd like to see remade...

XCom, always XCom, and TFTD.
Stonekeep. That game had so much going for it, but wouldn't run in Win98 or newer. A full range of motion could also really help it.
And of course, someone needs to remake Goldeneye into a PC FPS.
X-Com! Gah, I'll take a thousand copies if they remake it! Well, that is if they are true to the original. I still have my original TFTD CD, but it won't run on my computer. Well, it does RUN... just at the speed of light so a month passes by in about a second at the slowest speed.

I would love to see Battletoads on current gen. You know, except not criminally insanely difficult. Although that was good bragging rights if you could get past the speeder level.
