Remember when EA didn't completely suck?

You know what I'm really getting sick off? All of the EA hatred, I get 99.99999999% of all the hatred for it but come on guys, being hateful all the damn time is not going to lead to anything positive, if anything it will make us all feel very sad and miserable.

So here's what I want you to do, tell me what you believe to be the best game EA has ever developed and/or published ever. Go on, type it in, don't be shy. No one's gonna hate you for praising EA. At least I hope so.

What I meant to say was that there is no point to hating EA for things they've already done and have no means of changing, I understand what many people were going through with EA's business practices, because they ruined my favourite franchise of all time with Command & Conquer 4 (I fucking hate this game). But it's just something I've learned to accept as there is just no point to hate. Just blindly hating and insulting them isn't going to make them change. If anything they'll see us even more as stupid unappeasable sheep, criticising them in a civil fashion, making them acknowledge that what they are doing is wrong with logical arguments, that's what will make them change. Feel free to call me naïve and I'm pretty sure Yahtzee would be laughing his ass off if he read this, but this is what I believe.

Command and conquer: Red Alert 2, Original Crysis, Dungeon keeper 2 and Mass Effect 1 out of the games I've played. It's hard to just pick one 'best game' out of those since they're all different genre's.

But yea, Ea made plenty of incredibly good and awesome games...in the past.

I think most of the games that EA publishes are at least decent; they're just usually surrounded by corporate douchebag business practices.
The best? Mass Effect 2, probably. I think I put in around 120 hours playing and replaying that game.

Unfortunately, this thread will probably just be passive-aggressive hatred spewing at EA at best, or openly aggressive hatred spewing and ridiculing the people who don't agree at worst. Seems like there can't be any middle ground between not liking EA and being an EA apologist these days.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what to pick. Maybe Mass Effect. Maybe Mirror's Edge. Maybe Alice: Madness Returns. Maybe Crysis. Maybe The Sims. Maybe those hack&slash Lord of the Rings movie tie-in games. Maybe Black & White. Maybe System Shock 2.

I'd probably go with one of the first two, though, as they're what I've played the most from EA's catalog.

EA has built their entire empire on fucking over one person or the other. Seriously, they got into the business, by reverse engineering the Sega games, and threatening to release the info to other publishers unless Sega let them self publish their games, without paying the licensing fees. Classy!

Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure remains one of my favorite DS games. I suppose that's just one of the many games they've put out that are quite good. (Can't think of much EA off the top of my head. But dayum is that a large list)

The first two Dead Space and Battlefield: Bad Company games were absolutely fantastic, as was Burnout Paradise. I'm sure they've also published a whole bunch of other really high-quality games. I really dislike EA's business practices as of late, but they've certainly published quality stuff.

Yes, I do remember last year. And last month. And last week. And yesterday. And today.

I've got a lot of love for EA, even still. I've spent more time in EA titles than just about anywhere else. I'm still getting a lot of enjoyment out of FIFA 12, though I will be upgrading to FIFA 14 later this year. I've lost a total of months across the Sims franchise, and Sim City 2000 still rates among my favorite games of all time.

I don't hate Origin. In fact, I'm glad it is there. The existence of Origin is a bright neon sign to PC gamers that says "We consider you a vital part of our business model, and are dedicated to making games for you." In an industry that is often delaying or outright not releasing to PC anymore, that's huge for me. I don't have to worry about the next FIFA or Dragon Age going to consoles only. Origin says "Yes, you will get these games too."

I for one don't remember a time where they completely sucked, they have repeatedly given me some wonderful games over the years.

Hmm, I haven't played many EA published games, but the ones I have are all very, very solid. Let me think.

The Mass Effect trilogy is great. Some annoyances, such as DLC and Origin-requirement, but they're tolerable little shitty things, really.

The Battle for Middle Earth II was great fun. Still have a copy of it, which is fortunate since it goes for like $100 now.

Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, back when I was a fan of FPS, I remember Pacific Assault being really cool.

And that's about it. I had a look at a list of EA games and they're all I recognise. I can't say I'm very familiar with the company, though if the noticeable progression of shittier and shittier practices from the first Mass Effect to the third is any indication, then I can understand why everyone dislikes them.

Remember when they used to make good games? Like Mass Effect series, Battlefield series, Dead Space series? It's on the fringe of my distant memory but I think I can just remember.
So yeah, I like EA. Sue me.

I still think the Sims 2 to be the best sims game. Dungeon Keep and Black and White were also fun games, though my favorite game by them would be Haunting a Sega Genesis game.

I find that I like EA far more than Activision.

Say what you will about their policies, but at least they release a wide variety of games (many of which are refreshing and original)and don't just run franchises into the ground with mediocre yearly releases.

Let's see, they did do some work on Starflight, so I have to give them that.

I'm having an awful hard time finding any games that I've played that are actually made by EA rather than merely being published, otherwise I might have picked something newer.

EA makes a large number of quality games. Honestly, aside from SimCity, I can't think of any games they've released that haven't been at least moderately good.

"Decent games" has never been EA's problem. The problem has always been the business practices surrounding said games, as well as the impact of those practices on game design. If they'd just get their head out of their ass and start making games for the sake of making games, they would solve pretty much all of their problems.
