I'll put it in spoilers for those who don't want to have the scares spoiled.

So the premise is a condemned runned down mansion in the woods that are home to a family of Man-Eating Cannibals. While the game is entirely in First Person.

Why is this Resident Evil? No scratch that it succeeds in the "Resident Evil" name, but what does it have to with the other name, meaning "Biohazard"?

Where are the mutant monstrosities like Lickers, Hunters, Tyrants, and Gs? Where are the Viruses?

Cannibals? What a step down :p

Few things to note - it's shown that the Bakers seem to be remarkably resilient, such as when the head guy is shot by a pistol, and just keeps coming. Likewise, Lucas loses his arm, but exclaims "not again," implying that he can regenerate it. Considering how the viruses of Resident Evil work (i.e. whatever the writers need them to do to produce a variety of enemies), I wouldn't be surprised if they've been infected by something.

Anyway, I'm warming up to RE7, far more than when it first debuted. It isn't the first change of direction the series has had after all. But seriously, how many mansions are there in the series? This is, what, mansion number 4 (5 if you include the replica in Code: Veronica)?

5?

Let me see...

I don't think RE0's location is a mansion.

RE2 is a Police Station.

Still no Mansion in RE Outbreak games the closet is a University Building.

RE 3 had Clock Tower building but its not a mansion.

Code Veronica like you said was the only one with a "replica" of a mansion.

No Mansion in RE4.

The only one that truly brought back a Mansion was RE-5 with Spencer Manor 2.0

Five mansions are:

1) Arklay Mansion (RE1)
2) Spencer Estate (RE5 prequel)
3) Replica mansion (Code: Veronica)
4) Baker Mansion (RE7)
5) The mansion that appears in Resident Evil: Vendetta

Wouldn't be surprised if there's more.

Did not know Resident Evil: Vendetta was a thing!

And hello Leon S. Kennedy, I swear this guy has become the Batman of the franchise.

They already milked up the monstrosities to the point they didn't know what to do with them; so they took the easiest route and make action games with them. Let's see how they handle making the game oriented to horror first. But really, in context of difference on premise, there is no much difference to what happened with the movie Halloween 3.

It's an appreciated change in direction compared to the tripe before. Now I have enjoyed the past games, no doubt about it. But the demo and its' update have pretty much sold it to me that this will be an entertaining experience, even with the cocktail of cliche that the developers love to coast along. And thank the thousand monkey-gods of southern buggery because finally capcom are putting some effort into something again! Halle-bloody-lujah!

The only interesting thing about the trailer was where it rips off the diner scene from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Other than that I'm still not feeling this new Resi. But hey, good voice acting, I guess.

Reminds me of those terrible 90s Eastern European cartoon movies that were bought by American distributors, given a new name and a new voice over and sold as direct-to-VHS sequels to animated movies that never had anything in common with the original other than the name.

This is just an Outlast expansion, sold under the Resident Evil name. And I don't know what's worse, the fact they have the balls to try to get one over on us, or the fact they think we're dumb enough that they actually could.
