Another oldie

Resident Evil quickly became THE number 1 franchise for horror gamers. Although not nearly as terrifying as Silent Hill it still had a sence of eerieness that most games had never acomplished. The Nintendo GameCube was released in 2001. CAPCOM anounced in 2002 they would be making Resident Evil games EXCLUSIVELY on the GameCube. PlayStation fanboys hung themselfs when they found out that one of the games to be released exclusively on the GameCube was a remake of the origional Resident Evil.

Once again you play as either Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield. From the intro you can tell this game is going to be a far more violent experience than the other Resident Evils because this game wasn't afraid to show its gorey side.

The games graphics look like X-Box graphics and remember this is a GameCube it has pretty bad gaphics compared to the graphics of the X-Box. For a 2002 game this look was next gen and they still hold up extremely well by todays standards and is one of the best looking lat gen games ever made. The graphics also have some pretty awesome effects. You'll see realistic blood fly out of an enemies head and soak into the carpet then you can see the paterns of the blood through the carpet and the blood will dry. I have never seen blood so realistic in my 10 years of gaming. There is also amazing water effects and seing as all the backgrounds are pre rendered they react realisticly to the water. You can see through the water and see everything in a blurry way it's just awesome. I may talk about the graphics alot but you don't know how good this looks until you see it.

The controls once again control like a tank and can be very tricky to manouver. BUT! With the GameCubes anologue sticks you can manouver them far better and reasures you very much. Also the aiming feels very well done in this version you can turn 360* and aim up and headshot a zombie or aim down and take out their knee caps and make them fall. It's really well done and is realy overlooked in this game especialy.

The new additions are pretty stagering. The story is 30% just like the old but 70% has been modified so you don't just play the same game with better graphics. Some areas have been improved such as the aqua area and the dining room. There is also new "Defence" weapons such as Jill has a knife which she sticks in the zombies face and they will get stunned for a while and will sometimes blindly charge into a wall. Chris will put a grenade in the zombies mouth,Shoot it and its head will fly everwhere and can hurt other zombies with the blast.

The thing that makes this game terrifying if the Chrimson heads and if you don't blow a zombies head off or burn them they will come back later and they will have a red head, will be extra powerful and f^&king fast as hell. It adds a real sence of emergency to this game and can make you scared alot.

Overall I love this game and is just an amazing experience. If you have a GameCube buy this game very simple.

9/10

Real PlayStation/RE fanboys hung themselves when DreamCast got RE:CV, which obviously happened before the GameCube was blessed with the REmake.

Personally, this is the only game to ever scare me on a regular basis. I absolutely REFUSED to play this game alone.

Nice review.

See what I mean?

Is almost a tautology. "This game is violent because it is". Give some examples or explain what makes it so violent compared to other games in the series.

I'm not going to go into depth, just picking out a couple of points that stuck out to me. ( I have a spelling blind spot).
