So when I went to pick up my copy of Borderlands, the employee there asked me if i wanted to put in a resume. Feeling my pockets, I realized I didn't have one on me.

So I went home and loaded up my resume.
Dear Lord.

This thing is very out of date, so far back my recent work was in 2007.
It had basic grunt work (lifting heavy items, couches, boxes, etc.) and also had very poor references (two of my three had passed away.)

So now I must ask, what should I include that will help me get a job at EB Games?

You might want to watch Zero Originality before jumping on the EB bandwagon.

Aparently working at Gamestop/EB isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I now work at a game store. My resume was entirely based in a different field (horses), but I got picked up because of my customer service skills and attitude. A huge bonus to any kind of retail job is being able to do a successful interview with a positive attitude. Remember that in retail, you're going to be faced with a lot of customers who are pissed. It's probably not you specifically. We get people who buy games for their kids, then come back with them in hand because the games had swearing or suggestive language, etc. So you really just need to be able to take all that crap and not throw it back in their face.

Also, no one checked my references or gave my resume more than a passing glance. I wouldn't fret it too much. Make sure everything's filled out, and just stop in the store once or twice after you submit the application to see if you can get an interview. Following up shows dedication = landing a job faster.

How old are you? Are you in school? Your school or your local Department of Labor probably has resume help. Can you acquire additional references? 2007 isn't that far away, past work experience is a help, but not a requirement.

It depends on what you want to do at the store. Do you want to do "basic grunt work" or more sales-oriented? They want to know that you can do the job you are applying for. A background in gaming is also a plus for this particular job. I was asked some gaming questions when I applied, such as, "What game/system would you recommend to a something-year-old?" Just don't make yourself look like a gaming obsessed-nerd-slacker. ^_^

Do you have any experience working with people? If not in a job, a club, or other kind of managing responsibility? Do you have any education/classes that might look good?
