We all have our favourite games. Ones that have been there with us since we just started playing video games, they have stood by us like a family pet or that guy who has been in a sports team you support since you started watching them.
However, like Old yeller, Seabuscuit, or david beckham, there comes a time when they are just too old, too sick or too broken to carry on. Although you have many good memories with them, they are now on borrowed time, suffering and making you suffer.
Although you are sad, you know it is the right thing to do when you take them out to the green pastures.
And by that, I mean two shots to the face behind the glue factory.

Same with games. Final Fantasy producers should stop what they are doing now as they are starting to retroactively ruin the good games they made about 8 sequels ago. Laura was great, that doesnt mean we want a new one after all these years. Minesweeper is was amazing when it came out, its still addictive, do we want them making a new minesweeper? no.
Survival horror can be just about anything, a plethora of new locales and game universes await, why stick with silent hill?

what games would you stop them making, because you love what they already have?

Pokemon. Seriously, we could stop now. Actually, we could have stopped before 5th gen, (and I would argue that it would definitely have been for the best), but alas, Nintendo continues to milk the franchise.

I wouldn't be surprised if it continues another 10+ years, and that makes me sad.

Finish it please.

Sonic the hedgehog and Zelda games. Seriously, ocarina of time was a masterpiece, Majora's mask was at least decent enough and the ones after are the stuff of my nightmares.

Operation Flashpoint.

The first one...it was perfect. But noooooo, Codemasters have to fuck up a good series. Codemasters, just stick with rally games, you're good with those....

Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear anymore.

Even though it would be nice for more Metal Gear, Kojima has already made a damn fine storyline to the series and some of the fans are being outright assholes demanding for more games.

It would be sad to see it end, but, it would end on one HELL of a high note.

Well... one more game couldn't hurt. To end the whole thing.

Ah, who am I kidding, at this rate, Kojima(who has stated it himself!) will probably be making more Metal Gear games until he dies.

Well, he is good at what he does. He loves the fans and enjoys doing what he does.

But they only just started making cool changes to the series! It's been in dire need of some innovation ever since Gold and Silver, kind of annoying that it took them this long but it's better than never.

Oh and unless Insomniac should probably end the Ratchet and Clank series, the last game was great but it'd be really hard to keep up that quality. The whole thing's getting a bit old now.

What major changes are in 5th gen?

3 vs 3 battles? Yeah, not interested in that. If there are other big ones, please let me know, as I haven't really kept up with 5th gen.

4th had a bunch of good changes though. I'm happy it got made. It's just 5th that I'm not too excited about.

They're playing with lots of new ideas. Like seasons, rotational battles, more use of 3D, and the battles generally look a ton better now with a dynamic camera.

Then they've had a big change of theme. It's based in America rather than Japan now in a much more industrial area, and the new Pokemon reflect that by being based on more modern themes. And apparently the story is a lot better in this one, from what I saw it's about some religious cult that want to stop pokemon slavery.

I've only played the first few minutes and that was in Japanese so I don't know a great level of detail. The battles are a lot more fun now at least :3

Sonic... we go back a long way, but this abuse has got to stop. Go into rehab, take a break, maybe slow down a bit and get your bearings straight. The last 3D games of yours I enjoyed were the Sonic Adventure games, but even that's pushing it. I know it's hard, but the people you've been working with are bad news. I'm sure it ain't easy to make a game like it was a decade ago, but you were too cool to go down with the ship. I don't want you to burn out and end tragically like Crash.

Silent Hill.
I loved Silent Hill 1-3.
Hell, I kinda sorta found the story of Silent Hill 4 better than jumping off of a cliff into a sea of rusty nails and Justin Bieber fans.
But this shit has to stop.
The new Silent Hill is going to have weapon degradation AND QTE boss fights.
Please please please, stop making Silent Hill games, before it becomes like resident evil.

Guitar Hero. It's becoming redundant fast, even if it did make rock music popular again. Rock Band took the formula and improved it

I was going to say Metal Gear. It should've ended with MGS4 as that ended the entire story, then Peace Walker came along and filled in the only hole left that needed filling, and if it ended then I would've been extremely happy. But then Rising had to come along and Lightning Bolt Action its way through the timeline and ruin the continuity Kojima worked so hard to retcon into a coherant shape.

The Halo franchise. Let it die with Bungie's decision to move on. None of this "sequel every two years" bullcrap that I'm hearing from 343 Industries. No more second-rate anime knockoffs that royally screw the canon. I've seen how Star Wars has been beaten into submission with the prequels and horrible EU novels, and I don't want Halo to suffer a similar fate (or suffer more than it already has).

I don't see how its ruining the continuity. It's just showing what Raiden was up to between becoming a cyborg and MGS4.

But yeah, no more MGS games. At most, I'd like to see remakes of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, update them in terms of story and stuff. Other than that, stop.

Zelda. I'm good with Ocarina & Twilight Princess (though I still need to finish the latter).

Gears of War. Much as I love this I would rather see it end with dignity. Give us the third game and call it quits; don't squeeze every possible dollar out of it like Halo does.

Okay... I am gonna say it, Kingdom Hearts, you must die. But not because you are bad, Birth by sleep was the most fun ive had combat wise... make KH3 and end it. I want the end of my story, and I want to like it.

Other series I would like to see die- guitar hero, Dynasty Warriors, final Fantasy, Uncharted (depending on how amazing 3 is), sonic, Mario- wait, no, nintendo! and many others I can't particularly think of at the moment...

on a side note, I hate games like street fighter and Monster hunter, where they make "Plus" versions of their games... I bought your game once, either make it dlc or a full fledged sequel with little to no recycling of content.
