I don't remember ever encountering a reviewer like that. I don't doubt that they exist though. And yes, before I get quoted to death, I am aware of who Jim Sterling is.

Lastly, you have a misguided impression of exactly what a reviewer does, and, more importantly, the difference between reviewer and critic.

Do you ever get the feeling that a reviewer is so full of him or herself that their personal WHIMS dictate their reviews? Do you sometimes feel a reviewer is so desperate for attention that they deliberately throw lowball scores as a way to stir up a response, and create some controversy and web-traffic on their sites? Do you find yourself annoyed because a reviewer is so wrapped up in self promotion that they fail to do their job,as an objective, independent authority and fail to be fair or respectful to a game or the difficult design process that made it? Do you ever feel that a reviewer gives unrealistic and high scores to personal favorites, and deliberately scores down univerally acclaimed games out of some wierd petty psychology of ENVY. Then goes off to blow the trumpet on some mediocre POS game that the reviewer has a wierd personal fetish about? Do you see the face of this critic on this page? You MIGHT. Anyone share my curiousity as to how such a reviewer is able to bluster his way into being mistaken as a voice of reason, when he is actually only a voice for his own very narrow, appetites and conceits. Just wondering. Since this reviewer regularly declares all gamers 'morons' and quite seriously believes himself to be a peerless seer of game review and wisdom. And gets away with all of this AND paid for it. THAT'S THE JOB I WANT! Hey Jim Sterling, you need a personal assistant?????

So your goal is to be a troll? Well done lad, Mission accomplished. As for your expressed feelings on Mr. Sterling, I might suggest that you'd feel more favorable to him if you first look up the words Irony and Sarcasm.

Yeah, he's addressed this point before. I guess a few people are raging because he judged that Arkham City is merely a great game when he was "supposed" to say it is peerless and legendary one.

Honestly? You can't really talk about the quality of game reviews when on the Escapist: a site that has the "prestige" of being the only site to have given DA2 a perfect score on metacritic. They also have the equal "prestige" of having given an infinitely better game like The Witcher 2 one of the few "mixed" scores it has (among those is also your friend, Jim Sterling, OP). This site also is quite guilty of giving certain games better/worse scores for the simple sake of page hits, much like Destructoid.

Also: the entire internet knows Jim Sterling is a nothing beyond petty troll. Don't indulge his sad, sad ego any more than you have to.

which is a shame because I was totaly psyched for it at the time...now I cant even look at it

Yeah, they gave it five stars and said some nice things about it. Then the same guy gave Witcher 2 three and a half stars and said he loved it.

As you can see, the rapid fanboys promptly came crawling out of the woodwork, frothing at the mouth and wielding accusations of bribery. I still can't decide if the whole episode was hilarious or depressing.

I want to hear such things....since to me its not a mediocre game. To you its mediocre....to me its not.

To you Doom 3 could be a the height of FPS....to me it could be mediocre and Battelfeild 2 is the height of FPS.

See what is common? Opinion. and a diffreance off.

...ah, I'd almost forgotten. I'm not even sure why I still visit this site after that review and Extra Credits leaving.
