this is inspired by a current event in my life, i have been without my beloved pc for 11 days now, it had some sort of problem so i called my uncle who works at a programming firm that works for the government and he gave me the number of their repair guy, so i thought i would be getting a professional, after 7 days of me calling him and he forgetting appointments and moving me around he could finally grace me with his presence today, he looked at my pc for one hour and told me that i needed a new motherboard, charged me 50 bucks and went on his way.

just 20 min ago in total despair i tried calling a friend of mine who works at a PC store to hear if he could get me a deal on a new motherboard, he suggested unplugging my keyboard see if it would start up and then plug it back in, and here i am, miserable and looking for company.

have you ever been ripped off?.

ever bought a rolex from a nice man you met at the subways, who gave you a discount and as soon as he disappeared it stopped working?, I'm here and i share your anger.

I'm richer in knowledge and experience because of the times I've been ripped off. And in that regard those moments are priceless.

Translation: I ain't telling you how I've lost money. I laugh at only losing $50.

EB, I was buying Far Cry Instincts: Evolution but they only gave me Far Cry Instincts. I was not amused.

Yes, I paid a installer in cash and he totally pocketed the money and disappeared. I had to pay the company $80 that I already spent! what the fuck.

I bought a set of Warhammer 40k's "Assault on Black Reach." I split the cost with a friend, him keeping all the Orks and me keeping the marines, templates, and rulebook (which he already has.)

I now realize that my interest in Warhammer 40k is a lot lower than the "I'm interested enough to spend 60$ on this." level. Then again, it's less being ripped off and more my fault. (Then again, considering the kit including taxes costs a sliver under 110$, you get jack shit for your money.)

The moral of the story? Learn how to fix computers quickly. Before you plunge and put money down, see who knows what. Research it, search for the problem on Google.

And if you absolutely, positively have to kill every ************ in the room go to a specialist, find someone who FRIENDS recommend. Tell your uncle that the guy he recommended is a shoddy bastard who tried to fleece you, make sure he doesn't recommend him to anyone else.

On another note, it could be an honest mistake.

The last time had to take my machine in, I asked if I could watch. Spin him some bollocks about wanting to work in the maintenance business (in my case it's not bollocks, but it got me into the workshop). I watched what they did, the correct way to take components out etc.

I bought Fallout 3, this was my first time buying a PS3 game, and when i opened the case, there was a fu*kin RitzTM cracker in there. I was thinking, "....... WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

You know what I mean, i was like um what? You know the feeling. My parents then sued the place that sold me the "Fallout 3 Ritz Cracker Edition"
Where did you get this deliciously over priced game?

i know what you mean, one of my friends once decided that he would love to DM in D&D because... well he kinda liked rpg's, so he goes out and buys all the rulebooks and guides and figurines and everything, two days later once he opened every box and book he figured that tabletop gaming wasn't for him and ask if i would be interested in buying a never used complete DnD set.

but its not really being ripped off, more being "spontaneous" (thats what stupid mistakes are refereed to in my family)

It's a joke... not that hard to get. Try reading it again a few times and tell me if you get it.

Always use official taxis! It?s quite easy to shrug off bad comments because "Surely they can?t be that bad?" They are. In my defence it was my first time in a foreign country on my own.

The same thing also happened to a housemate, although I didn't know this at the time, and he has never revealed the amount either. Although he wasn't abroad.
