So I must ask you, my fellow Escapists, have you ever seen Rocky Horror?

Now, this could be either in the theater, which is the best place to experience it (in my opinion), but also can include on DVD (and/or Blu Ray), illegally seeing it on Youtube, or anything like the such.

For those who have seen it, what is your opinion on the Rocky experience (assuming you've seen it at the theater, movie watchers can express it as well), and for those who have yet to see it, will your or won't you? If you won't, why?

To start off with my opinions, I am a Rocky Horror fan (hence me making the topic), and actually every month I go to it my appreciation and enjoyment from it grows. I'm actually part of a shadow cast called Simply His Servants, and get to play Rocky. I love the movie because when I go, whether or not I was performing, I felt like a part of something. Before I was on cast and went, I'd feel clever when people chuckled at the few older jokes I knew yelling out, and one of my best memories is actually before I was on cast and the cast interacted with me. It's also made me feel more comfortable w/ myself, me being afraid of letting people see any part of my body, and now I monthly run around in gold briefs and a blond wig.

That's about all I have at the very second, you may (hopefully soon) commence commentations

I have not seen the rocky horror picture show. I've wanted to for a while, but I've never found the opportunity.

I haven't seen it, and I just don't really feel like ever doing so. I'm not against it, I just don't care.

That's defiantly understandable, I got lucky w/ my cast being so close, but there's some in areas that are harder to find them anywhere. Pittsburgh's cast was without a theater for awhile, so that area was devoid for a bit before they got a new home recently.

That's the biggest problem w/ Rocky, you have to find a theater that will support the film on a monthly basis, especially since it's a 35 year old movie

I saw the movie at a friends house once. I honestly can't say that I was all that impressed, but I imagine that if one were to see it in a more traditional venue where there's a lot more audience involvement, it could be more entertaining that way.

I love Rocky Horror, when I get a chance I go to this drive-in where they show it.

I think it's a great experience, how else are you gonna see a movie that's tongue-in-cheek and that mixes it's own special humor without being overtly ridiculous.

I wanna see it in a theatre but so far no one has come to my area to perform it.

I have seen it and while I adore the music, the actual movie is a little too bizarre for my tastes.

On the other hand, I have a gay cousin who might be doing it on Broadway as Frankenfurter. I would give my left nut to see that.

It looks extremely silly and bizarre.

In other words; I'd love to see it. Sadly, as the first poster, I haven't had the opportunity yet to do so.

I've seen it over a hundred times. I was part of a weekly RHPS group for quite a while. Sadly, that group has fallen apart since then. But it was a lot of fun, and I thoroughly recommend anyone try it at least once.

I've seen the movie a couple of times, it was great fun.

It always surprises me though to think that Tim Curry was actually in shape once.

I have seen the film, and while I think that Tim Curry is fantastic and it is a really interesting premise, I can't say that I can really get into it. But that may be because that it is usually shown at some ridiculous time like 2 a.m. It is still one of the best musicals out there, and that is coming from someone who is not really a fan of that sort of thing.

I traditionally watch the film every Halloween. I've never seen the stage performance, but we always play along with the film, throwing toast and everything.

Saw it when I was 15ish with my girlfriend and her entire family, I was speechless the entire movie, and at the end all I said was "what the fuck". I was told that was the appropriate response. Several years later I bought a deluxe re-release edition and now I show it to anyone who hasn't seen it hoping to see the same response. Meet the Feebles is also good for the same sort of thing, Peter Jackson was a very different person then.

I love Rocky Horror! I've been to a ton of midnight showings, and I was part of the group that organized and put on our college campus' first midnight showing. I was Magenta. So much fun!

First time:

WHAT IN THE NAME OF UNHOLY GOD MOTHER OF ASS IS THIS FUCKNESS? THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WEIRDEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!

Second time:

Heh heh, that's actually pretty funny... wait a minute, WHY CAN I NOT STOP TAPPING MY FOOT?

5th time:

This has got to be the most strangest, funniest, oddly satisfying movie I've ever. I love it.

Midnight Showing:

THIS MOVIE IS A FUCKING MASTERPIECE!

I have seen it. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen in my entire life, but it was awesome at the exact same. Anyone who denies the awesomeness of Tim Curry in drag and heavy make-up singing about being an alien transvestite just doesn't know good entertainment.

Watched it for the first time a few months ago at a friends house, and we were all dressed approriately for the occasion. Good times! Was a pretty odd film, but quite entertaining and I'd watch it again happily :)
