Color me surprised. I replayed the game a few months ago because of nostalgia. Hell, I went on a 2000AD reading spree because of it. Rogue Trooper to me was a game that I felt only I ever played. What do you guys think of it being remastered? Do you even remember the original?

I played the original and I really liked it. Thought that out of the slew of 2000AD games back then, it was the best.

But, I mean.....why remaster it? If any of those games were gonna be remastered I would assume it would've been Dredd vs Death, because it was the most well known.

Shouldn't the title be edited? It's coming to PC and both consoles.
...wait, according to Eurogamer it's coming out on something called 'The Switch', whatever that is. So yeah, it's coming to PC and all consoles.

Loved 2000AD and Judge Dredd as a kid, but I don't think I've ever played a game based on any license, and honestly I'd never heard heard of Rogue Trooper.

But what is it?

Is it a remake or an HD re-release, if the latter, I don't really have any use for it since the GOG version works just fine and it supports HD resolutions, regardless it's cool that they are re-releasing it, it's a good game that slipped under the radar.

Huh, that was a misleading video. It was shared on Twitter by the Playstation account, so I thought it was exclusive.

Changing the title now.

There was a Dredd game?

EDIT: Looked it up, seems really quirky and funny, but that style of FPS just isn't my style.

It was great for it's time, especially if you were a fan of the comics. I played it for the over-the-top action and 90s-ness of it all. It is essentially a bog standard TPS, but the setting and universe is what kept me interested.

that makes sense.. to me it was a bog standard shooter with some frustrating moment.. i remember being stuck behind a low wall and couldnt figure out out to climb over it

My only experience with the franchise was skimming the first volume as a kid. Only remeber two things, the needle rain weapon and a hillarous opening pannel of some guy shouting "NU EARTH!"

Can't wait for this. Rogue Trooper is one of my favourite 2000AD characters and I loved the original game. In fact I liked it so much I bought the re-release on the Wii despite already owning the PS2 version. The pointer controls for aiming actually worked really well tbh

Interesting... I remember coming close to playing it on PS2 but never got around to buying and playing it. I'll take another gander at this gen. I hope it's a full-on remake because TPS controls from PS2 haven't aged well outside of Resident Evil 4.

They actually aren't bad, at least on PC. Heck, the quality of the animations and the smoothness of movement surprised me when I played it again.

I watched a quick bit of gameplay before posting to make sure it was the game I was thinking as 'rogue' and 'trooper' are pretty general terms used quite often with games. The game did look better than I thought it would but it's not up to snuff in gameplay IMO. I couldn't tell if the game has a lock-on system or that was just the reticle tightening up for better accuracy.

It's because of the "bio-chip" installed in your rifle, which also allows it to act as an emplaced auto-turret.

So it's an auto-aim system, but it actually rewards manual aiming. You are more accurate if your reticle is closer to the target, and you can still manually target different parts of an enemy's body, including the head.

(Said from experience with the old XBox version of Rogue Trooper.)

Ah, I was just wondering as a lot of TPSs from that time relied on a lock-on mechanic (like Syphon Filter) because devs just didn't have aiming down yet with a controller to where now I complain about aim-assist messing up my aim.

It's not exactly lock on. As long as the bigger reticle is on the enemy, you will hit him. There's a reason why, but it is a spoiler.

EDIT: Aaaaannndd someone answered you already. That's what I get for leaving a window open for a few hours.
