Hello
I have to say that after searching and playing all kind of games, i encountered this genre.
As i never liked turn-based combat (but never played a game with turn-based combat) i decided to give a try to a game like that.
Found 2 games that were praised which are Divity Original Sin and Pillars Of Eternity.
Which one would you recommend for a begginer in this genre?
I don't even know on what those games focus, i mean, they focus on story or combat or...?

Well CRPGs are notorious for being hard on beginners, they are kind of hard to understand and get into with lots of different status attributes and skills, I have not personally played any of those two games so I wouldn't know how user friendly they are, however if you're willing to give something else a chance I think Shadowrun Returns it's a pretty good beginner CRPG, it's not too complex but not too dumbed down either and much more straightforward than most I've played, it's not the best by any means but it's still pretty good, I think it's great for beginners of the genre after playing that I think you would be able to jump into more complicated games.

I can't comment on Pillars of Eternity, but be warned that Divinity: Original Sin does not waste any time telling you what to do. At all. You create your characters, you view a cutscene and then you're dumped into the world without any further guidance. As a newcomer to the cRPG genre myself, I found it extremely intimidating, because the gameworld is -huge-.

As such, I'd have to second Kaleion's suggestion. Shadowrun Returns is much more friendly to newcomers. You can always move on to the bigger, more complex ones once you're done with that one.

Divinity is certainly the easier and more streamlined of those two, especially on easy settings you should find combat is always doable. But they are very very tightly packed games, everything comes with stats and effects that you do need to understand to an extent and the list of items just has no end, Divinity also has the most elaborate elemental system of any game on the market.

How much you get combat or story in these games depends on you, you can skip most things and run away from fights, but ultimately these are story heavy slow burning RPGs, if you are expecting a beat em up action thing they are the completely wrong genre.

I did not play PoE, but Divinity seemed to be pretty damn easy.
EDIT: but it isn't really interesting plot-wise.
Maybe you should try Shadowrun (any one, the are independent stories).

Divinity: Original sin, I think it has good combat aspect.
And the plot is... well, it does its job.
P.S: If you do plan to ever play this game, save frequently. A touchy-feel person like me will trigger every insta-death traps.
(until I installed uncapped resistance mods. God bliss them.)

Pillers of eternity would be more of D&D - ish game.
You will know what I mean when you get to play any other D&D related game - it just means you will theorycraft a lot if you wish to min-max. Story here is better than Original Sin, I think.
TL;DR: Harder to play, better story than Original sin.

My personal recommendation is Shadowrun (Deadman's switch first, then Dragonfall)
- as it is easier to play, is turn based, Dragonfall has well written story.
P.S: Deadman's switch's story is quiet bad, but introduces the world, so I recommend it.
Just because Dragonfall exist.

just out of curiosity, but what does the c in CRPG stand for anyway? This is the first I've heard that term, but apparently I've been playing at least one CRPG, if references to Shadowrun are examples of a CRPG.

I always thought that CRPG meant Computer RPG. So, basically, any RPG that has it's roots in D&D or other tabletop RPG system, unlike JRPGs, that were based on Visual Novels, which are popular in Japan.

Temple of Elemental Evil is a decent play, if you're willing to learn the D&D 3.5e basics (or if you already know them).
It's a little buggy and unfinished on account of Troika going bankrupt, but there's a community patch or two that shapes it up quite nicely.

If you're new to Computer RPG's, DO NOT PLAY ARCANUM first. Don't get me wrong. Arcanum is good, but it is not kind to beginners at all. Hell,it's not even kind to people who've beaten every fallout game(like me). The character creation is incredibly important and while supposedly you can succeed with any character types, that's only if you're either really good at playing with character sheets or have played through the game before.

I'm currently on my third attempt through this game and I've finally reached the 2nd city. The first two times I was never able to get past the bandits guarding the only bridge out of the first town. That's how annoying tough this game can be starting out.

Computer RPG.

Typically party-based, often leaning heavily on Dungeons and Dragons influences. Very much more heavily invested in strategy over twitch action, almost to the point of being a single-squad RTS/TBS in combat at times. Although the first-person variants (Might and Magic, Legends of Grimrock, a few of the latter "Gold Box" D&D games) were lighter on maneuvering because the whole party was behind the camera POV.

Lemmme see, a general list....

Ultima(1-8(well, 9 but uhm.... leave that til you decide if you like it), Wizardry, The Strategic Simulations Incorporated "Gold Box" D&D games, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Fallout 1-2, Arcanum, Soulbringer, Shadowrun Returns, Planescape : Torment, Star Saga, Bard's Tale. Krondor. Avernum.

Most of those are kind of old though, I haven't been into the genre so much of recent years.

(Also, if try and tackle some of those old ones, they can be tough as three day old steak (Ultima 5 for instance, has an invisible time limit, and can endgame lock you into a fail if you miss an early seemingly unimortant errand), and several included additional second "manuals" (that could hold up a corner of a couch) that you referred to for ingame lore because it didnt' all fit on the disk)
