When you start playing an RPG that allows you to be good or evil (KOTOR, Fallout, etc.) what path do you choose?

I ALWAYS do a playthrough as good first, then if I liked it enough I go back and do an evil playthrough.

Normally first time good, although thats because of how the story has to play out, and how I feel within it, you can't really save the world as a bad character.

I prefer pragmatism, just because I save someone good doesn't mean I won't dispense of someone bad! To quote Mordin Solus ?Lots of ways to help people. Sometimes heal patients; sometimes execute dangerous people. Either way helps.? . If the game has bonuses for going in either direction so be it, I try to resist meta gaming : s

good, too an extent, should i think being good is about to get me screwed over, then its shotgun time for anything that moves until i feel safe. its usually the good option just suits my needs

I agree with Genericjim101.

Generally I'm a mix of the two. I wouldn't say any of my in-game actions are ever intentionally "evil", but they're all justifiable.

Most games I choose the good path, on the grounds that very, very few game developers ever handle morality well. Mass Effect is pretty much the sole exception in my book, avoiding the two big pitfalls: "You get one bar aligning you between Good and Evil and you can't reasonably play gray," and "Good is the reasonable path while evil makes no sense to follow whatsoever." inFamous also does it pretty well, except killing civilians is just stupid.

Generally good, but if the "bad choice" is the one that will probably be most benificial to the greater good, then I will go with that (see: Mass Effect 2 final choice).

Depends on how I'm feeling at the time. Usually I'll go through acting how I would personally act, which is generally good.

If I'm in a bad mood at the time for whatever reason, I wreck shit. Then, of course, I always keep an alternate file for when I feel like being the biggest asshole possible in a consequence free environment.

Good because in 80% of cases they get better weapons/abilities.
More or less this.
My second playthrough, I enjoy being a massive douchebag, because I was sick of all the retards around me, halfway through the first playthrough...

I like to play it evil but usually there aren't many perks for being an evil do er. So I end up playing it as a good guy.

I generally end up playing "evil" because if I had access to the power of the characters I generally play as, those are usually the decisions I would make. It just so happens that the decisions I find most appealing tend to be the evil ones. :D

Good. because the 'Good' options and paths are what usually leads to more killing in a weird twist of irony...

during my first playthrough i play whatever has the best items, skills etc... if possible i'm trying the total asshole routine for quests as well -> doing the non violent/diplomatic approach and after i get my reward i kill/rob the npc's to get even more stuff/xp ;)

Neutral? Yeah. I miss on some of the fancy "pure good"/"pure evil" endings/skills/items/whatever but the first play through i just hate the choices that are purely meta-game oriented. I won't do some silly overly "good" or overly "evil". Only on following play throughs i usually will change it just to get 100% of content/quests/see rewards.

Just my kink back sine pen and paper times where i just such fake morality characters, i tend ot put more effort into psychological profile than stats... guess that's why my characters usually die first in PnP.

Evil, why because most video games have you play as the hero. Fuck that I want to be the villain.
Have you played The Darkness? :D Or Predator: Concrete Jungle.
