Here's the deal:

I finally found a PC Game that my wife enjoys. Arcanum. She's really enjoying it, but she's worried that it's about to end soon. She wants more. I've got Fallout 1 & 2, but she says she's more interested in games that have magic and fantasy elements in general.

She prefers turn-based controls, as she doesn't want to worry about twitch reflexes.

In a nutshell, I need to find RPGs that:
1) Turn-based, though Real-Time With Pause may work
2) Preferably fantasy
3) Preferably open gameplay

If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose my wife's newfound interest in non-casual gaming.

Thanks in advance.

Baldur's Gate 2. It's pretty much what you described, though not all that open. Feel free to try BG1 as well. Also, Planescape: Torment and Dragon Age might be a good bet.

FF Tactics. Actually, just the entire FF series, decide which one you like yourself.
Oblivion?
Fable 2 maybe
Demon's Souls(jk)

Maybe you'll also want to consider TBS with RPG elements like HoMM and age of wonders.

Dragon Age, eh? I was under the impression that BioWare had been of late heading to more action-oriented games.

BG and BG2 may very well find themselves on our game shelves soon. Planescape is already there, but I'm having issues getting it running on our hardware.

She'd kill me if I introduced her to Demon's Souls. :p
As for FFT, she's not big into tactics-based RPGs; she didn't care at all for Fire Emblem (on my last attempt to find a non-casual game she liked.)

I thought about Age of Wonders, but as I mentioned before, TBS isn't something she enjoys a lot. Though AoW certainly has a really good high fantasy element to it that she may dig.

Dragon warrior II gameplay is so open after you get a ship that you might need a guide to find out where you should go. another ludicrously open game is Ultima: quest of the avatar, aka. Ultima IV: Quest of the avatar.

Fallout 1 and 2. Morrowind. The Witcher. You are probably find that those 4 games will keep you busy, let's say the next 8 years or so.

It's more a strategy game.

I would suggest the Knights of the Old Republic games, a minor love for the Star Wars franchise is needed but they're very similar to games like Baldurs Gate.

I would suggest Dragon Age as a must do, and you may want to try Jade Empire, because of the story, I found it very very pleasing, and I am a girl :D Good luck.

I'm going to go and say Mother 3 here. It's in a sorta fantasy setting, and the gameplay is fairly linear, but I still recommend it for the brilliant dialogue, excellent music and powerful story. Hell, my Mum likes it.

I haven't played Dragon Age yet, but from what I understand it may work well. Oblivion, perhaps. I've heard good things about Jade Empire as well. Dang, I need to play some catch-up.

I would personally recommend Final Fantasy VI, VII, X, and XIII. She would have to get past the dated graphics for the older ones, but regardless of technological prowess, they are all some of the greatest fantasy stories ever told (and they each have some of the greatest music ever composed). Lost Odyssey is good as well.

It's not an RPG, but Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a good action/platformer with a great story and some fantasy elements. Maybe: throwing it out there.

EDIT: I don't know if you have anything besides a PC, but all of these besides the Final Fantasy games and Lost Odyssey are available on PC. Not sure about Jade Empire. Though the older Final Fantasy games could be emulated... I mean, they could, but I do not condone such morally reprehensible activities as emulating games that aren't even being manufactured anymore and thus cannot possibly benefit the original creators anyway. That would be wrong.

Also, Shadow of the Colossus. Also not an RPG, but holy crap.

um...Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age for the Game Boy Advance have kept me going for about 6 years, but I can't help you with PC titles, though...
