My old 360 snuffed it a week before my birthday last year :) I was close to tears and then laughed about it but then got withdrawl and didnt do much of anything.

I made my ex buy me an arcade for my birthday :) Only paid him (enter pound sign here)30 for it because he dumped me before I paid him the other half ^^, his loss.

But my old 360 was scratching all my discs if I played them too much and couldn't read half my games unless I spammed the open button.

From a psychological perspective, it makes perfect sense to assume that not having to live in agonizing uncertainty anymore ("when is it going to break? today, tomorrow or in two years?") would produce a feeling of relief.

I've had my 360 since early 2006 so I expect it to crash anytime soon, and I similarily feel like that could actually be a Good Thing (especially since it won't be particularly difficult for me to simply go out and get a new one).

That said, if the crappy old console scratches one of my game discs I'm going to kill it myself and post one of those "I Murdered an Xbox" videos on YouTube... ;)
Mine already did that, twice, and it scratched them so badly they couldn't be read. The games were Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Mass Effect. After that I took a sledgehammer to it and felt the best I ever have in a long time.

Now my new one got the E74 error and I almost cried.

I don't own an Xbox360 but I'm guessing you laughed because you knew that it'd happen and you were waiting but you don't need to.
This, but I think the OPer may be insane. I have never been happy that a system broke, especially since the 360 I bought was like, $300.

Now here is the weird bit... Instead of falling the the ground sobbing and trying to fix it on the power of "love" I ended up laughing.. and was happy about it.
You're a weird person...

I never had RRoD with my Xbox 360, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be happy about it.

It would be a bad thing at first. Not being able to play for a while but if they replace it with a new one that would ease the pain.

The first time my Xbox got the ring of death, I was kinda pissed (not really pissed, but a tad aggravated). The second time, I was initially disappointed, as it occured the first time I plugged in The Force Unleashed, but I didn't bother me very much. I had very much a feeling of "oh well."

The best thing about being in prison was a feeling of relief. The feeling that he'd plunged as low as he could plunge and he'd hit bottom. He didn't worry that the man was going to get him, because the man had got him. He was no longer scared of what tomorrow might bring, because yesterday had brought it.

Also, when mine RRoD'd I was a little pissed off since it was in the summer and I was going to be playing it a lot, but I was happy when I sent it in and got a new one back which didn't emit loud fan sounds. I also got a free month of LIVE out of it so I guess it wasn't so bad.

I always like to think of Microsoft things breaking as a form of divine justice.

Don't people usually laugh to protect the brain from severe trauma?
It's one of you're brain's instincts.

You see, that's the kind of reaction I would expect myself to get.

How can a month of hassle be a good thing. Or in my case, three seperate months of hassle, and two trips to the store.

It's breaking the "addiction" guy's (an girls if any)

And from a psychological point of view, they person who would cry at it being broke would have the problem, as it isn't a vital part of life and especially since it can be sent away to be fixed for free. So I mean if you can't live for a few weeks without a game's console... well, speaks for itself really. :)

My xbox live experiences usually consisted of being whined in the ear by people who havn't figured out they are no longer 7. So this will be a nice break while it's away getting fixed ^.^
