I think everyone has a few rules they live by. Simple or even funny rules that everyone should know to make life easier for themselves and others.
"Hope for the best. Prepare for the Worst."
Simple and sweet. I always hope for the best possible outcome, but stay prepared for the worst. This way, if bad things happen, I'm prepared for them. If things go like I hope, then my preparations are of a benefit to me in the long run. Easily applied to several situations, too. For example, underestimate income and overestimate expenses.
"Never go through drive-thru if you're planning to buy $20 or more in food."
This one is just about having common courtesy to those behind you. The more you order, the longer it takes to prepare it, and the longer it will take others to get food, and the more gas they waste in line.
So, Escapists. Tell some of your rules to live by.
