Since my other forums I generally subscribe to won't even pay attention to me, I thought I could rely on the Escapist =D It's only a simple question: Can my rig handle Stalker: Clear Sky?

HP Pavilion 753n
Intel Pentium 4 Processor
1GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 5 FX5200 256MB
Intel AC'97 Audio Controller

Needless to say, I'd sell my soul to play this game. Thanks in advance =)

I know very little about computers when it comes to system requirements, all I know is that this laptop sucks.

o_O If you're talking about mine, that's not nice, and it's not a laptop. It's a rather old desktop Lol =D

Doubt it, maybe you can run it at 25-30 FPS on the lowest settings, but you really need to get a new PC.

When I went to school I found out that they require that I rent a laptop from them.

This Toshiba of mine sucks ass and there lies about leading in innovation make my ears bleed.

So yea I was talking about the comp I'm typing on now.

Simmer down man.

Probably. But from what I've seen, that game is laggy on everyone's rig. Even after patching it up a bit. The lag will plague you.

first, AWESOME choice of game, but dude, STALKER is a resource hog, you need more RAM and a better Graphics Card, and you didn't specify your CPU speed.

I played it on:
P4 CPU @ 3.4
ATI XTX2600 256 DDR3
2GB DDR2 RAM

and it chopped time to time. so to be honest, I doubt it :(

Only in "Static Lighting" (a.k.a: DX8) mode.
All this conflicting info is hurting my brain. So does that mean I could run Chernobyl?! Ugh..

All the "Stalker" games. You can run them, but only in "Static Lighting" mode (it's on the first page of the option menus; You can't really miss it.)
Awesome. Sorry to keep bugging you, but you're sure? In static lighting will there be a ton of lag? Thank you So much.

I'm not sure if you'd be able to run it on a Gig of RAM. I tried installing Chernobyl on an older computer once with a Gig of RAM and the installer complained about the paging file not being big enough. Technically, the paging file and RAM are different things, however I found several sites which said that error was caused by a lack of RAM.

On a side note, if I were you I'd play Chernobyl and skip straight to Call of Prypiat. Clear Sky is... buggy. Very buggy.
