GTA III better than Saint's Row? I just totally lost my faith in everything you say mjhhiv. And Saint's Row still had more to do than Vice City, if we put the story aside. I don't know if it's going to top GTA IV, but Saint's Row 2 is going to nonetheless be an awesome game.
GTA lll, Vice City, and San Andreas are easily going to be dominated by Saints Row 2 if you even bothered to watch the video on the link.

Haha...no. I admit, GTA III was better for it's time. And notice I only mentioned GTA III. I still think GTA Vice City is better, even though it came out 3 years before. GTA III was better for it's time, but what do you do? You compare Saint's Row to GTA IV. Those games have 2 years between their release dates. GTA III was revolutionary, and Saint's Row is only better generally, if I put aside the release dates, but Saint's Row 2 will have hope to beat it. And the video was actually impressive. Old planes, underground UFC...something. Throwing people. Those are little things, but Saint's Row 2 is full of those.mjhhiv said:

No, I really don't think of Saints Row as a replacement for the GTA series, I just see them as two good video game franchises in rivalry...no one really rplaces the other if you know what I mean...
I like how they've tackled GTA4's lack of fun head on. But then, at least GTA4 did something new. Saints 2 is just doing the old GTAs, but slightly better.
Saints row is just Crazy Taxi with quite possibly one of the most low-budget soundtracks ever made.
Honestly? I think Saints Row and GTA are travelling down different paths now. GTA is going the realism route, Saints Row the pseudo-cartoon route. Both are fun. Both, surprisingly, are good (honestly, when was the last time you said that about a clone-game, heh).
Personally, I rate GTA:SA and GTA:VC over SR, and I'm torn on GTA4. I like GTA4 alot, but I can't deny the 'friends' bits where, well, annoying. The ingame TV I liked but it wasn't a key feature for me.
I have to admit SR2 does look like it'll be alot of fun, and I can get both so I will, heh. I just hope with GTA4:the next game they allow for business-buying again, as I enjoyed that. Oddly, I think if you combined the good story, world, and detail of Grand Theft Auto with the pace and customization of Saints Row, you'd get some super-game.

I do agree the only thing about the first game that sucked was the soundtrack.

Okay, they're blatantly saying "Fuck GTA this is WAAAAY better!" and that pisses me off a little, but it does looks like a lot of fun whether it's the new GTA will be decided when it comes out *cough probably not cough*, I'll most likely rent it since I hated the first one.
Am I the only one who thinks GTA IV is by far the best GTA ever? I loved every single minute of that game. Saints Row looks pretty damn good, but it doesn't seem to have the flair and feel that made GTA so special. The satire, the story, the characters, the soundtrack and most importantly the breathing city.
