I need a gangster *****! (man i love that song.)

Anyways, I have Saints Row 2 and it is my favourite game ever. The only problem I have with it is that I think I'm supposed to know a lot of the characters, but I dont.
So my question is this: Is the first Saints Row worth getting or is it just a worse version or Saints Row 2?

Does 2 do away with that stupid respect thing? That is what turned me off of the first. Oh you can't do that til you go do some random side missions first.

It does still have it, but I think the sidemissions are a lot of fun, like demolition derby or cage fighting and blowing stuff up in mayhem. :p

Ya but there was alot of them I found to be the same as the missions themselves. It started to annoy me.

I wanna gangster boogie, with my gangster *****!

Don't worry too much about the first one, pretty much everything that happens is explained at some point in the second game anyway.

If Saint's Row 2 is your favourite game ever, then I think the first game will be worth playing.

Despite being an 'inferior' version, I think you'll still find it worthwhile for the back-story and characters. I think after playing it you'll appreciate how Stillwater has changed and exactly what Ultor had done in the time between the 2 games.

I believe that the Saint's Row series was written as a trilogy, even before work started on the first game, so the original is still very relevant to the story.

There were also a few features and vehicles that were unfortunately omitted in Saint's Row 2, so you'd enjoy playing it and discovering those.

The characters like Julius, Gat, Troy, Lin and Dex are enjoyable to meet in the fist game, plus the other gangs have interesting characters, like Benjamin King and 'David Carradine'.

I think SR1 has enough acting talent to make it worth your while to play through the story missions at least, but you may not want to 100% it.

Last and but not least, the radio stations are a lot better in the first game, as well as having a lot better selection of hip-hop and classical, the right-wing talk radio station is hilarious.

You can probably buy it quite cheaply now, and for a fan of the series it will be worth the little money it will cost, plus it's not a huge step backwards, technology wise, for example it wouldn't be as retro as playing GTA III after GTAIV.

Saints Row 1 was fun for me mostly because I had never played any sandbox crime games before it, not even any of the GTA games.... don't look at me like that.
Well anyway after playing a few other sandbox games I can say that Saint's row 1 was nothing special and Saint's Row 2 is a great game.

I should really pick up one of the Saints Row games...
Get Saints Row 2, it is the most fun you will ever have with a game! (Although i haven't played Red Faction: guerrilla, so that might come close. Or Crackdown 2.)
As you go through the game, it just gets more and more fun and hilarious. Look at yahtzee's review.

I'd get SR1, even if just because the AI is so terrible. I have never ever seen a taxi run over a pimp before, until that game, that is.

on the secound one i only really had to do the side missions at the start when i first started playing but because u get alot of respect from doing the actaul mission now i find i dont have to do them anymore unless if am abit short but that hardly happens i can go on for agers just doing missions

and somthing else that i think set it apart from the gta games is that u actually make ur character so i felt that i got into the story more and because there are so many things that u can do to customize him or her that i dowet you will ever see a character that looks the same as urs

Yeah that's good fun.

Whats even funnier is wehn you are driving close to the sidewalk and the people get's afraid and try to jumb away. And jump right before you car killing them instantly

Good Times

Hmm was I wearing the wrong clothes in the first one because when I spent my respect and finished a mission I got nothing back for it?
