Is there a saying you hate. is it because it is stupid, out of date or just doesn't make sense. well then start ranting for I will find it amusing hahahahaha.

I hate the saying 'there is no smoke without fire' because people use it just to defend gossip
e.g.
"John funk is actually a satanic unicorn that is trying to take over the world"
"that's a lie"
"there's no smoke without fire"

Any phrase you can fit the word "nigga" into at least 3 times. Dude, you are not ghetto, stop trying to act like you are... you might get us shot...
PS: NOT RACIST! Please don't take this the wrong way...

"You can't have your cake and eat it too."

I know this has been said before, what what fucking good is cake I can't fucking eat? Fuck it. Keep your stupid cake. I hope it murders you in your sleep.

Life is what you make it. While there certainly is some truth to it, and I do believe people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be, any time I hear that one I have to resist the urge to challenge them to go say that to all the people starving in 3rd world countries.

Life is short. What the hell? Life is the longest **** thing anyone ever does! what are you going to do that is longer?

It means you can't have something good and keep it too.

OT:"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" No it doesn't, once the person has lost both their eyes it will be pretty damn hard for them to stab out your eyes.

I know what it means, I'm saying what's the point? Why would go to all the effort of obtaining delicious cake/a new car/blowjobs if I'm then not allowed to keep them? Maybe that shit flies in North Korea, but here in the real world we eat our goddamn cakes!

One that quite pisses me off, because of the somewhat sexist use of the saying is: "A key that opens many locks is a master key. A lock that is opened by many keys is a shitty lock".
I absolutely hate that, because of how it is used by some bastards.

That saying simply means you can't have it both ways. Referring specifically to the cake though, if you have a cake and you eat it, you won't have a cake anymore, so you can't keep the cake and eat it too. Get it?

There is one in Finnish language that I hate. Yrittänyttä ei laiteta. I'll try my best translating it to English:

You don't get put for trying.

That doesn't make too much sense and it's even more nonsense in Finnish. Apparently it's old finnish for you don't get executed for trying, but it's still very annoying.

'At the end of the day.'

I hear this all the time on radio discussions when people can't actually justify their claims about something. It's also a horrible cop out, like nothing can be done about a certain problem.

Say it's a discussion about drug or alcohol abuse, and when someone has no further point to make they just say 'Well, sure, at the end of the day, people like heroin, so what can you do?'

It feels like a defeatist phrase, because, you know, at the end of the day, we're all going to die at some stage, so what's the point in anything?

I think it actually makes sense when you say it in the right order. "you can't eat you cake and have it too." But yes, it is not the best phrase to get the point across, since what's the point of having cake if you aren't going eat it.

I dunno why, but I can't stand the use of "I'm not gonna lie". Like: , I'm not gonna lie. Maybe it's because "seriously" is just as effective for emphasis.

edit: do people even say this anymore? I dunno.

"Better to keep silent and be thought an idiot, rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

DAMN I hate this one. My dad always used to say it as advice, but I never paid attention because, well, seriously? That's 'seen and not heard' crap.
