So we've all seen movies that we didn't like, but I don't think there are many movies that are universally terrible. You can probably find a scene or two that you enjoyed amidst all the crap you didn't.

So this thread is for those things. The little bits in a movie that you actually liked, from a larger movie that you didn't.

Some off the top of my head:

Star Wars: Episode 1:

Jar Jar stuck in the engine with the numb tongue-
I don't know what it is, but I find this part genuinely amusing. Maybe it's because it reminds me of an old Bill Cosby skit, where he's talking about having dental surgery done, and trying to speak with a numb bottom lip. But for some reason, seeing Jar Jar waving at people, asking for help with a mouth that isn't working, and then giving Padme a very weak "thank you" always cracks me up.

The ending song-
I really like that damn song. It's a really joyous, energetic song of triumph and positive feelings. All those voices sing, as the trumpets blare out victoriously, just really gets me. It would've been a better ending for a better movie, but I can't fault how much I enjoyed that song.

Matrix Reloaded:
Morpheus fighting the Agent on the truck. I found this fight really fun, mostly because the outcome was uncertain. Anytime Neo fought the Agents, it was boring, because you knew he would win, he was playing in God Mode. But Morpheus...Morpheus wasn't protected by Protagonist Armor. He was the Wise Mentor, and that character frequently dies in stories, to let the Hero grow into his own destiny. So when Morpheus turned around and decided to actually stand up to the Agent, I was actually emotionally invested. He wasn't The One, there was no reason to think he might survive, every other normal person had died by fighting Agents. So the scene was actually enjoyable for me, one of the few in that movie.

Matrix Revolutions:
The final showdown with Neo and Smith, while Juno Reactor plays. Despite everything else in that movie, and the despite how the fight kind of goes on longer than it really should have, that opening sequence where they are facing off in the rain, the army of Smiths on either side, while the chanting beats of "Navras" started up, was actually pretty awesome. I remember having a bit of a shiver of anticipation. The anticipation was unwarranted sadly, but still, that opening face-off scene was well done.

The robot battle scene with the mechs. I really liked the shots of all the humans in the mech suits, firing up into the sky to try and fend off the waves of robots. There was something visceral about it to me, and for some reason, that grizzled old soldier's "Knuckle Up!" made me grin.

So what about you? What little scenes in movies that you mostly thought sucked, did you actually like?

The beginning of The Hobbit 3 when Smaug is carpet-bombing the fuck out of Laketown and all hell is breaking loose is quite good, the best part of the movie. And that's before we even get to the title :/

I agree that the highway sequence in Matrix 2 is the best thing in a subpar movie.

Oh yeah! That scene was really good. But the part in that movie that I really liked, was the son of the guy from Laketown. Holy shit that kid had some balls, to go running back into that town on his own to try and help his dad. And on top of that, to stand there, being the human bridge point for basically a ballista, while a giant, evil dragon is charging at him from behind. To hear that monster, but not be able to see him, and to have to stand still so his father could try and kill it, by shooting a fucking harpoon off your shoulder?!? ...damn, kudos kid, that took some guts. But yeah, didn't really like that movie either.

Also just thought of another one.

The opening song sequence in Pirate's of the Caribbean: At World's End. That song they sang, as they started to hang the child, all the voices of the soon to be dead, chanting in unison, was really nice, and again before the title sequence.

Also, every seen involving Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa. In fact he was great in all 3 movies, but I found him especially fun in movie 3. Because he was back from the dead, and just didn't give a fuck! xD For him, everything was a party, because he'd already lived through an undead hell, died, went to the afterlife, and then came back. So every moment of life was icing on the cake for him. And watching him cackle like a joyous madman in every seen, while everyone else is losing their shit was awesome! xD My favorite being when they are flipping the ship over to go find Davey Jone's Locker, and the rest of the crew are like "OMGurd we're tipping over! aAAAAAAHHH!" And he's hanging from the rigging, laughing as the ship capsizes, waving his arm like a man with Zero Fucks. xD

The Descent.

Watching those women going on a terrifying spelunking expedition through some seriously intense situations in the first half of the movie was great. I got really claustro when they were getting through that chimney tunnel...

Watching the heroines go all waif-fu on blind midget cannibals I could have really done without. I mean, the troglodytes looked really cool, but I just couldn't believe that the heroine was a fighter like that.

But you know, it was a horror movie. I rolled with it, but I won't be catching the second, that's for damned sure.

I think we can all agree that the Twilight movies are utter shite for the most part. But there is a bit in New Moon where the wolves are chasing Victoria through the woods while that Thom York track is playing. I liked that scene.

I think its pretty much because the rest of the movie is so boring, that some excitement was a welcome surprise and it ended with Bella almost dying. What more can you ask. Of course the movie went back to sucking after that, but for one brief, shining moment...Twilight was watchable.

I've tried and tried to find a scene I like in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. But that's a lost cause, so let's move on. Hm... GreenLantern was lousy start to finish... Can't remember anything I liked about The MAtrix: Revolutions...

Oooh, I know! I liked the scenes with the Great Goblin in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Talk about a scene-stealer! I'm cheating a bit, though. I liked that movie. I just kept being constantly annoyed that they added so much fluff, and that they tried to make it super-epic and super-whimsical at the same time. And all the changes... They even changed Gollum's number of teeth from six to nine.

I watched The Thief and The Cobbler as an admirer of animation but I have to admit, as impressive as the technical aspect of it may be, its effect sort of wears off after a while. Still, if it lacks in pacing it certainly has no shortage of style. Here's a scene from fairly early on, before it started to bore me.

Rapheal speech at the end of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I think this is literally the only time I have seen a version of Raph that given a nice heartfelt talked that he deeply cares about his brother despite his bully/ antagonising attitudes toward them!

Also Mikey final words was a nice bonus!

Wow, that movie came out a few months ago, I even saw it in theater, and I entirely forgot everything about it since then. I entirely forgot this movie happened, I only recall it because it was so recent it happened. Literally can't remember anything, except April was Megan Fox and the plot was a huge repeat on The Amazing Spiderman. I'm impressed in how insubstantial this movie was.

Anyway, my mildly NSFW contribution from the Silent Hill movie. It's movie NSFW, of course, so it's super brief.

Don't like Alien 3 at all but:

the scene where Ripley re-activates Bishop to access the flight recorder data, the whole scene became memorable for me by one simple sentence: 'I'd rather be nothing'.

I actually came to post exactly that.

I watched it once with my sister, and found myself enjoying that part. I even said to her at the time "Most of this movie is pretty bad but I enjoyed that scene, it was well done".

Almost any scene with Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. He was the best thing about an otherwise kind of boring movie.

The final scene in Attack of the Clones where you see the Clone Troopers loading onto the Star Destroyer looking ships while the Imperial March plays. That scene is genuinely powerful.

I always find a couple of scenes I like in shit movies, so I'll pick one I hate.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey tortured me with it's poor execution and stupid jokes, but this scene is really fun -
No stupid writing, just fighting. Wish the whole movie was like this instead. Then they ruin that scene with another stupid joke from the goblin king.

This is a tough one...

AVP Requiem, the final fight between the Predator and the Pred-Alien hybrid on the hospital rooftop. Something about that scene always gets my blood pumping.

Resident Evil Afterlife, Chris and Claire vs. Wesker. I just like how they remade the second Wesker fight from RE5 in the movie (also having a remix of one of my favorite songs playing in the background helped).

There's only one thing that I remember from the 6th Harry Potter movie: the
scene where they raise their wands for Dumbledore which was actually quite touching.
The rest of the movie was just a blurry mess for me.

One scene in Transformers where the military fighter jets are searching the city for signs of the recently-escaped NME-1/Megatron. Then one of the jets shifts into Starscream, who blows up two of the others and then transforms back in one smooth motion before flying off, leaving no clue what just happened. The pilots didn't even get time to shout a warning.

If it were any other version of 'Scream, he'd have spent the rest of the movie gloating about that alone.

Also the 'there's a Transformer in my yard' sequence was kind of clever.

Gamer is a pretty bad movie but this scene is great.
Michael C. Hall is basically mind controlling a bunch of death row convicts and using them to fight Gerard Butler:

Michael C. Hall was so good at hamming it up in that film. He needs more film roles.

This isn't entirely fair, sense the show isn't "bad." I just thought that the characters and plot were a little weak, and needed some more development. As a result I like it, but it's nowhere near as good as it could have been. That said, this scene is gold:

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Street Fighter's legendary line:

My biggest one would be Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius, a free visual novel I tried out on Steam. For the most part it was fairly mediocre. The combat was repetitive, brutal, and not always thought out. The characters were often two dimensional, with little development, and the game often devolved into harem anime show antics (they keep it pg though). I hate all these things, and remained unimpressed until I reached an area called Ongess. The game then turns the story on its head, making you out to be an imperialist that wants to control the resources of other colonies. It was excellently written, and quite dramatic. It's like they had the money to hire out a talented writer for one day, and that's the scene they gave him. It even made me think. I just remember thinking "where did THAT come from?"

I'm typically not a fan of Satoshi Kon, but this is one of my favorite openings ever. It's so life affirming:
