I may have missed a trick here, or perhaps the sprite artist here got hired by Ubisoft, or something.
But anyway, I played the recent Scott Pilgrim game on XBLA, loved it. Loved the movie, as well, and have all intentions of getting the graphic novels.
However, upon searching more info about this game, to see if it was worth my cashmoneys in the long run, I stumbled upon this.

Anyone who's played the game can attest that those sprites and animations are pretty much dead on.

Look at the date! August 27, 2007.

What the heck happened here? Any of you got any ideas?

I just did some more snooping around.

This page doesn't mention Ben at all, and Paul specifically says it is "[his] work".
But even weirder, http://ben2theedge.deviantart.com/ shows a few comments about how Ben did the art on the back of some graphic novels?
I'm hugely confused.

The back of the sixth and final book (Scott Pilgrim's Finest Hour) shows the characters as sprites in an 8-bit setting, which apparently that guy did.

uh...it's only YOU GUYS who are way off.

I happen to be an old time member of the board you linked to, and this is just a mixup

The sprite artist of Scott Pilgrim game was http://probertson.livejournal.com/33796.html Paul Robertson. it shows in the style of the game, which is very much the same of his shorts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5zpNfTfGZU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFbceSyo-Xg. Ben2theEdge has been a long time Scott Pilgrim fan, and his sprites are how I first found out about Scott Pilgrim far before a movie was even a remote posiblity, and they are a fair bit more complex http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/ben2theedge/Pixel%20Art/Scott-Idle2.gif than what Paul did http://paulrobertson.mechafetus.com/scott_idle_healty.gif , though Paul obviously has far more experience animating and perhaps would've never achieved the lively look of the game mostl alone had he used Ben's sprites.

Yeah...they really don't match up at all. Stylistically they look kinda similar, but that's because they're themed from the same comic. :p

Oh and the game is totally worth your cash money. It's a damn good game (Tho a bit grind-tastic at first (Til you pay off the late fees that is) ).

Well, yeah, you're right. I guess it was just very similar and my mind twigged onto something that wasn't there xD never mind! Sorry Escapists :p or.. Escapees? I have no idea what to call this community :p

But aye, I bought the game in the end. And it is indeed hard as hell until you buy the Bionic Arm. Then suddenly much was made easy, but I'm still getting pounded by the last boss!
