I like the album but it's far from the best. It's original though, I'll give it that but I myself hold many movie soundtracks over it.

Edit: I do think the music in Scott Pilgrim was one of the only interesting parts of the film though, so yeah, it's quite good.

SP vs World has excellent movies. Inception, however, spanks the bejesus out of Pilgram.

When it comes to lyric songs though, yes, the best (Besides Apocalypse Now).

I actually found the music to be quite terrible and generic, especially that of Scott Pilgrim's band. But eh, to each their own.

Oh, the band was terrible. Terrible! Uninspired in the extreme. I figured it was sort of a hidden joke in the movie.

In order of soundtracks it goes like this:

Forest Gump > Oh Brother Where Art Thou > The Good, The Bad and The Ugly > Scott Pilgrim > other

I don't know. I partial to the good ol' Inception BWHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

As a side note, why are we all comparing it to Inception? I mean, I know I did too, but I'm not sure why.

Oh, and also:

I don't think you could get a consistent opinion on anything, especially when it comes to music.

2010 alone had far more original and enjoyable pieces. Tron and Inception immediately spring to mind.

Don't even get me started on soundtracks of all time.

What? You not seen The Crow?

While i love Metric (a lot) it's not the best movie music out there. Certainly a high rankr there.

Loved the music, yes, especially songs that work very well outside the film. Mostly Scott's own band, not that one in particular.

But when we're talking pure film scores I know plenty of films that kick that flick's ass. Anything by Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman and John Williams for starters.

But even when we're talking out-of-film-music-scores, I know at least one example that's so much more awesome, though I must admit that the scene in question helps a great deal:
Now that's a phat beat. That's my 2010 fav for a reason. Yeah, even above Inception despite that being the better film. I don't care, Iron Man 2 was pure unfiltered entertainement. Kept me grinning non-stop for 90 minutes. Delicious.

...Huh, now that you mention it, I never really noticed the brilliance of Forest Gump's soundtrack. Maybe that's why it's so damned good. I was going to say how Amélie's soundtrack deserved that spot, but fuck it. Why bother ranking anyway? So pointless. Here's some Amélie because I thought of it:
Oh Brother Where Art Thou goes without saying of course. Gods that movie is brilliant.

IT IS THE BEST, AGREE WITH ME.

OT: I think my favourite movie piece is Lux Aeterna (only silly people call it the theme to Requiem For A Dream)

It's more than just a little good, but firstly that's the best song in the movie most likely, and secondly while it's very clever and eclectic (read: hipster) the songs don't really tie into each other. They were set pieces in the movie, working with the action. I have others I prefer, and I don't even feel that strongly about it.

Off topic, did you listen to the soundtrack for the game by Anamanaguchi? I love that whole soundtrack so much.

The music was not bad but I didn't love it.
