Whatever, just wash your hands.
Just as the title says "thanks Obama." But the second stimulus has passed with a vote that was along party lines. 50 to 49, one republican had a family funeral so VP Kamala didn't need to cast the tie breaking vote.

Will this be the last of it though?
Probably. It was a rough fight just to get this and states are starting to open everything up since the vaxxing is rolling out pretty good. But, really it depends on if the mutations for covid end up causing problems, which is a real possibility since states are starting to be stupid again.

And thus the last major piece of legislation the Democrats get done while they have power is put through the senate. Congrats everyone! And sorry to all you Americans who were promised $2000, but ended up with just $600, from Trump.

So how much of the 1.9 trillion is going to people, how much is going to businesses and how much is pork bullshit?

No, we're still getting the $1400 checks.

The final bill includes $400 billion in one-time payments of $1,400 to many Americans, with a phase-out starting for those with annual incomes above $75,000.

It also includes $300 a week in extended jobless benefits for the 9.5 million people thrown out of work in the crisis.

Democrats agreed to reduce those benefits from $400 a week in order to secure passage in the Senate. They want the bill signed into law before current unemployment benefits expire on March 15.
So it's not nothing, but it's still much less than was promised and is in some ways still worse than what was provided by the Trump administration.

Last I checked they lowered the phase out levels of the $1400, so there will be millions of Americans who got $600 from Trump and nothing from this bill.

Why did republicans vote against it (apart from out of just pure evil spite, malevolence and hatred for their fellow americans)?

Boo, no 1400 dollar check for college students.

Guess they like to pick on the powerless.

Democrats negotiated themselves down to shatter two campaign promises (three if you want to get cute and count $2000 checks and immediately as two different promises) but as usual, I guess we're supposed to be grateful for the crumbs they're giving us.

A little help is better than zero help I suppose, I just wish people had a higher bar than this.

If you want to go with what they claim at least, it's kind of the usual "we can't pay people for unemployment because then they'll never want to go back to work the lazy fucks!!!"

Which to be fair to Republicans, they're kind of right with these added benefits as many are making more money on unemployment than they were going to work but in typical politician fashion, they ask "Why should we be paying people more money in unemployment" instead of "why are companies allowed to pay people so little".
