Senior Prom

I have been unable to decide if I should go to my senior prom or not. I have been told that I should go no matter what but I do not think it would be much fun.

I have never been to a school dance, I do not have a date, I will not have a date in time, I do not know how to dance, and I believe I will just be standing in the corner all night.

Can you please give me some advice and maybe tell me your prom experience so I can maybe expect what will happen.

Things like this are generally a waste of time in every sense. People are telling you to go because they think its what you want because its what they want or whatever reasoning people have for things like this. Sometimes I wonder if the majority of people actually decide what they want for themselves or if they go with what notion society 'expects' from them.

In the end it comes down to this- If you dont want to go, dont go. There are several more constructive things you can do with the money and your time. If you really want to celebrate something school related, wait until you finish post secondary like college or university. Its truly at its end then, unlike High School... Unless your heading straight to some menial labour job for the rest of your life.

I've done the stand in the corner all night thing before. It's boring as ass. I've also skipped all 3 Proms I had the chance to go to in High School (there was no Senior Prom, just Prom). I would say not going is the way you should go, given your situation.

That being said, never a bad idea to loosen up and do that dancing thing. I've varying degrees of fun doing so.
