Don't forget about The Dark Knight- vast improvement on Batman Begins (even though it didn't have Liam Neeson in it......Oh well.....)

I think Star Wars: The Empire strikes back improved on Star Wars. TESP explained the Force, the Rebellion, the Empire, Darth Vader, the Emperor and pretty much all of the Star Wars universe much more then the original. It helped me understand the first movie and the Star Wars universe much better.

Definitely. A New Hope is great, but it's definitely a bit on the "quaint" side of things. Also, George Lucas didn't direct the two sequels, which accounts for them being better films, as well as why the prequel trilogy blows.

The Matrix Revolutions.

:D

Seriously: Back to the Future Part II, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight and Terminator 2 were all awesome sequels that bettered the original, in my opinion.

Firstly, Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando was so much better than the first. New weapons, gadgets and abilites, and still fun as hell.

Oh and the Dark Knight. Took everything awesome about Batman and multiplied it a thousand times.

Lord of The Rings.
The second and last ones were probably the better of the 3.

As has been previously stated, Terminator 2 and Aliens ring bells for me. If you count Snatch as the spiritual sequal to Lock Stock then include Snatch on list.

Dark Knight, no doubt. I didn't even like the original, but this is one of my favourite films now. Aww yeah.

I'm quite surprised that everyone is saying Dark Knight. Don't get me wrong I loved the film, but I still preferred the first one simply because the story was really clever. It made Batman seem like a realistic idea (albeit a really far-fetched one), but the Dark Knight kinda took some of that realism away :(

Let's see, what hasn't been said yet?

For movies, a sequel that beats out the original is a very rare breed of animal. For games, it's a bit more common, but I'm pretty sure that's not what this thread is about.

First off, Evil Dead 2. And shame on all of you for not saying it yet. After that...

- The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
- Wrath of Khan
- Mad Max 2
- Dawn of the Dead
- A Shot in the Dark

That's about it for me.

I always liked Army of Darkness (Evil dead 3) better so many kick ass quotes.

Arthur: Are all men from the future loud-mouthed braggarts?
Ash: Nope. Just me baby... Just me.

Actually, if you count "Within the Woods", Army of Darkness would be Evil Dead 4.

And Evil Dead 2 is generally regarded as the best of the series. Individual mileage may vary.
