"Seriously?!"

Well, the topic sorta explains it. It's one of those moments in gaming where the game's logic makes you go

An example would be Pokemon. Pokemon is filled with WTF logic, including Ghost types being weak against Ghost type moves. Another example is Dead Rising 2. Keeping survivors happy is the most annoying thing about that game. "Oh, you're not gonna bring me that stuff? Then I shall go out and die, then."

What's your "Seriously?!" moment playing a game?

I like how ghost types evolve, implying that they arent ghosts or that they're still alive in a way. or that ghosts can faint.

I think my "seriously?!" moment was the ending of persona 3 fes if you choose to fight NYX cause its such a downer. though an even bigger "seriously?!" moment is persona 4s (bad) ending. Seriously atlus? seriously?

I've always been a little confused as to why bug type Pokemon are strong against Psychic and dark types. i just don't get it.

In Uncharted 2 during the museum break in, Nathan Drake forbids the use of guns because the museum guards are just regular guys trying to do their job, and it would be immoral to kill them.

Halfway through the level you have to pull one of the guards off a roof and throw him into the ocean below (about a 200 foot drop). The guard has basically no chance of surviving, and instead of the dialogue addressing this issue about how Drake just broke his own self imposed "no killing the guards" rule, they just make a joke about the guard's death.

Seriously?!

Look carefully. You can see that guard swimming away.

In FFX, ice is super effective against fire, but water isn't.

Adventure game logic is always rife with this too. "Let me get this straight. If I eat the pie, then the game becomes unwinnable, because the Yeti will only eat the pie, and won't be interested in the meat, and I can't defeat the Yeti with anything else I'm carrying..."

Pretty much EVERYTHING after stage three in a Dwarf Fortress tantrum spiral.

It varies, but you know you're firmly entrenched in WTFery by the time they're beating each other to death with flaming puppies.

I literally did shout out "Seriously?!" when I reached the point of Dead Rising where you figure out the villain's motivation.
It makes no damn sense and implies a complete ignorance of the American beef industry. Then again Capcom are just game developers so I guess I can't hold them up to knowing anything about beef production anyway.

Haha, yeah. I never noticed that. I like the joke though.

Hmm apparently I have a decent list here to say.

1. Rage on the PC when I started it. The massive graphics problems. Seriously did not expect that one bit from freaking id software.

2. Ar Tonelico Qoga Knell of Ar Ciel for the PS3 (yes this game exists and that is its name). Basically it's another one of those BETRAYAL!! moments by taking a great game and it sequel from the PS2, changing everything that was good about it and making the entire game one huge sex joke. I'm not kidding when there was a whole cutscene that if you weren't watching the screen and just listened you would think there's a porno on. I managed to find the cutscene actually. WARNING!!!!!!! NSFW!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlB4_7l6cA8
When I finally beat the game and they started using the opening themes from the past 2 games that was my "Seriously?!" moment. That game did not deserve the right to play its the music from its own series.

3. Hyperdimension Neptunia also for the PS3 (once again this game exists and that is its name). Now this works like the last game I posted except rather than take a great game and mess it up it takes an average game and makes it infinitely worse. The game it takes from is the company's last game Trinity universe which was nothing special but was at least average with no glaring flaws in it just nothing making it better than average. The combat was basically useless in that it had a combo system which added nothing and it could have just been standard turn based game and been much better. The developer apparently looked at their last pointless combat system and said "Hey I know how to make this better! Let's slow down the game's speed by half and try to make an incredibly annoying customization option for it!" and so they did. This is the only game I have ever played that made me angry to play it from the very start of when I have control (oh also forgot to mention at the beginning it has a cutscene of MGS4 length that even has a battle in it that is fully automated you know just in case you thought you were going to be playing just yet). Also whatever merit the writing would have had is completely gone by having to most annoying main characters ever. I am 100% serious when I say this is the absolute worst RPG I have ever played period. The whole hour I managed to play before returning it was my "Seriously?!" moment.

4. Crysis 2 for the PC. When I found out they removed the super sprint from the last games. I still wish that was in the game even if it is smaller but oh well I don't feel like playing the game again anyway.

5. Dragon Age Origins for the PC. First off I do not hate this game but I did not beat it for this reason. About 6 hours in (which I loved even with the difficulty) I was in some town where they had to fight off an undead invasion (its one of those places you can go right after you go to the town where you can get sten and leliana) and after fighting a few waves nothing was happening so I ran around the entire town trying to make something happen while talking to every npc. That's when it hit me. The game had broken and since I saved there I could no longer go foward or backward in the game. That made me quit the game and I have not returned to it since then.

Well I think that's about it for me and my rant.

'Cause Bug had to be super effective against SOMEthing. That's the only reasoning i can think of :p

Oh, but why is Dragon super effective against Dragon?

Don't think i've ever actually let things in games bother me too much, i mean, somewhere along the production line they must've made sense to someone.

Though there is that thing in Adventure Quest where Ice can be more effective against Fire than Water is and that is something i'll never understand. At least pokemon got that one right by making Ice not very effective on Fire.

Ice MELTS! Who'da thunk?

So in Left 4 Dead, a crane being operated is loud enough to alert an entire horde, but 4 people running down the streets tearing up everything that moves with bullets doesn't?

(Sorry for using a Valve game as a negative example please don't hurt me.)

As someone who's never played Dead Rising, this is the most horrifically WTF post I've read all week.

Choking prostitutes in Call of Juarez: The Cartel.

Admittedly, I had completely forgotten about this until being reminded by the Extra Credits thing, but it was quite the WTF moment. I thought it was saying 'press X to ask question in needlessly brusque manner', not 'press X to grab her by the throat and demand answers'.

Also, as already mentioned, Nathan Drake's casual murder of a museum rent-a-cop in Uncharted 2, complete with oh-so-very-witty banter.

I think they patched that... But when this happened to me, I broke the immersion and ran over to where the corpses came from. Yep, three were stuck on rocks.

I killed them, and the game continued.

Well I ran everywhere that I could and that includes where they came from and nope nothing. Congratulations for your luck but I had none that day.

I think it's because Dragons are pretty overpowered so you have to fight fire with fire...but wait, dragon pokemon are pretty hard to come by, shouldn't they have made it something a little less rare so they wouldn't be so overpowered? Aw screw it.

Yeah, you're gonna need an actual Dragon type to take down a Dragon type most of the time unless they've got some secondary type you can exploit, 'cause i mean... Have you tried taking out Palkia by using Lucario's Dragon Pulse? Well don't, it's a bad idea >_>

I say this in love because I actually really enjoy the adventure game genre as a whole. But I haven?t played one that did have at least one ?seriously? moment for solving a puzzle in a way that makes you think the designer and developer and Project Manager must have been pretty sleep deprived.
