I was curious as to how well your school taught you about sex, and things thereof.
As for mine...it was actually quite extensive. Taught us everything we needed to know, including the act itself, and how to practice safe sex. I didn't even know they made female condoms.

Part of the reason I'm asking is that some schools preach abstintence-only programs, and no sex ed. They didn't preach abstinence in my school, thank god, and taught us things that have come in very handy, not to mention life-saving.

Oh yeah, the slide show was quite a spectacle.

So how about yours?

I... I actually don't know. My school's an abstinence-supporting program, but we've learned a lot about STIs and the like.

But the thing is, I learned an awful lot about sex, STIs, and the like from the Internet (and, yes, I fact check the stuff). So, really, I can't remember what actually crossed over into school.

They don't teach us things about condoms, but the school-based health center will provide free birth control (in the form of prescriptions and condoms). So, I suppose they want us to not screw, but have the back-up for when we do.

It was all abstinence-based where I grew up. Not entirely surprising, and one of many issues I have with the public school system.

Not very, They taught us the mechanics of birth and STDs, but not of the emption, or the compassion.

I still don't understand either.

My school didn't really have sex ed. The teacher basically said "Don't have sex. Its..uh.. bad and stuff." We had an abstinence program instead.

They did show us a video of a woman giving birth though. It was.. disgusting.

We had sex ed in fifth grade at my elementary school. It taught us nothing about sex, but a hell of a lot about puberty. I learned everything I know about sex on the internet.

I don't really remember much of my sex-ed program. Of all that was given in Health class I took (I took summer school, so it was a very small amount of school time), I'd say that it would have been roughly two days worth of sex ed. Mainly showing of worse-case scenario STDs and a cursory talk about protection. Basically it was a horrible sex-ed program. Can't even remember it.

Well we didn't have an abstinence lecture, just safe and responsible sex. Then a lecture on STDs and the problems facing teenage parents. Though the best part was the "how to put on a condom" course.

It involved zucchinis (courgettes) and condoms.

I have an Amazingly low Opinion of sex education.

The Adulterers in the Class who would actually need the Knowledge gained Probably Learned it Previously from the internet, Leaving the Rest of us mildly irritated by its sheer Vulgarity.

Seriously, mankind has been Multiplying Long, long before we Figured out how to beat the Brains out of Each other with sticks.
We don't need some aged matron with a Laser-Pointer explaining to us what a Vagina is.

In all truth, if some poor harlot Didn't realize that sex produces CHILDREN, and if you make a Point of trying to Mate with Every Human you see and You contract a STD, that is NOT the fault of Schooling.

I can't quite remember, really. I do remember sixth grade was more about puberty than sex, and that ninth grade actually got into consequences of sex and a fairly extensive breakdown on safe sex practices.

Everything else I sort of osmosed over time. I can't imagine not knowing, now.

From texas, we get abstinence...they even push in the goddamn biology textbook for goodness sakes. But whatever, that never stopped me from getting the occcasional handy. But anyways, yah, it's pretty drab. Mostly don't do this and don't do that coupled with well, pictures of diseased organs...traumatic if you ask me.

some guy smashed a fake rooster on a table showed every one how to use a condom the continued by pulling out a box of cock as he so politely named it and then stuck them all on chairs and said your turn

We learned genitalia, STD's, pregnancy and the birth process....but no condoms or birth control. However, we also never were preached abstinence...so everything I learned was from other kids, tv/movies and of course my own fumbling trial-and-error.

I say I lucked out.

In this sex ed video at school, it explained Sex like something you would watch in an animal planet documentary: Interesting, exciting, and exotic...And the actual sex scene was shown in a semi dark room with techno music and bright neon colors flashing. (It was made in the 80's) It was very boring and you could see hardly what was going on, but half the class was jerking off to it...(This was in 7th Grade) It seemed more like an amateur porn video filmed in a rave club rather than something you would see in school.
I learned more about sex from my parents and the wild animals (mongooses) that always seem to find it fit to use my house's front porch as their romantic retreat.

I don't get why all the sex tapes at school were as you described: bright neon lights, techno music, scene cuts every 2 seconds. Is it too much to ask just to see a real couple doing it, so the kids at least learn some techniques?
