So, I'm thinking about buying Street Fighter 4 today. I'm not a huge fan of fighting games, but it looks really good, and I haven't bought a new game for a while :)

So, the question is, should I get it for Xbox 360 or for PS3?

I think that the PS3 controller may be more suitable for this kind of game, but I really like Xbox achievements, so I'm not sure which console to buy for.

Thoughts?

For this, you should base your choice on where you have the most online friends who will also be buying the game, as that way you'll have folks to play with.

I'm getting it for the 360 for that reason.

Dont quote me on this but I remember reading that PS3 trophys will be in every game released as of now.

After playing SF2 HD on 360 its absolutely horrendus to play on the 360 control.

Saying that I will be gettting it on 360 with an arcade stick to play with my friends, since they are all 360 fanboys

PS3, unless you have or are planning to get one of the fightsticks/fightpads.

If you have/are, base it on the system with the larger friends list.

I haven't tried the PS3 version, but the netcode on the 360 version is fantastic. The Japanese machines who utterly trounce you could very well be in the same room as you.

Hmmm, well I'm leaning towards the PS3, mainly because of the controller.

I don't play that much online, so that probably isn't a consideration.

Achievements > Trophy's. I much prefer to build my Gamerscore.

Oh well, I've got a couple of hours until I head out to my game shop at lunchtime. I will continue to ponder.

I don't see the need, if you've got the choice between the two systems, then weight up the strengths and weaknesses and go for it.

Personally, I'm tempted to get it for both.

hey, cut that out. I already got in trouble with the missus because I wanted to buy the Collectors Edition of Fallout 3, even though I already had the game on Xbox 360... I really, really want a bobble-head...

and thanks everyone for not letting this thread degenerate into a PS3 v's Xbox contest...

I'm heading out to buy a copy shortly, maybe I'll just flip a coin :)

I haven't played a Street Fighter game within my memory so I'm not exactly sure on this. However, isn't the PS3 controller better designed for fighting games?

Here's a thought: Rent both versions (should cost you no more than about $10), then go and buy a version of the game. :)
Yeah, buy my video shop won't have them for a week or two, and I wanna play it NOW!

Hmmm, Killzone 2 is out in a couple of days, maybe I should just save my ca$h until then...

Dude, waiting two weeks to NOT waste $60+ is not a bad move. Wait, my son. The answers will be...revealed.

I actually found that playing the Remix version of gameplay w/ the joystick was much more bearable that I thought it would be. I'm building my own arcade stick right now because the EX2 that I have right now isn't cuttin' it anymore. It's a great stick for $40, but I prefer concave buttons and a bat-style stick. The curved Japanese button layout is fine, though.

If you are going to get an arcade stick either system will be fine. If you are not or are on the fence about getting one get it for the PS3 since the Dpad is just plain better than the 360 controller's. I would not worry about the online thing too much in terms of quality (Both will be made of fail unless Capcom was smart and decided to make use of dedicated servers like Resistance or Warhawk. Even then it will still be made of fail though not nearly as much as player connect will be.) both support custom soundtracks, really it comes down to the controller and which system has more of your friends online to play the game.

well, the decision has been taken out of my hands for the time being. I just got back from my local games shop, and they're sold out of SF4 for both consoles :) haha.

I am definately leaning towards the PS3 though, and I might pick up a copy from a different store on the way home this afternoon... as long as they're not sold out too.

hey, one more thing, I noticed that on the back of the PS3 version, the screen resolution says 720p, but the xbox screen resolution says 1080p. Would the difference be noticable and should I factor this in when trying to decide which version to buy? I do have a full HD 1080p LCD TV, so I want the best quality that I can get.
