i think it maybe why EA is staying away from the switch. I think nintendo dont want them to fool around with lootbox and microtransaction as far as they want, and EA respond by putting their games elsewhere

Sadly current AAA publishers and devs would see Miyamoto's statements as old hat and that he is behind the times.

Microtransactions, Free-to-play, and loot boxes are the futurez.

Personally I'd like steam game to do that, have maybe a few fixed price, maybe like 5,10,25,50 $ or something like that with a fixed schedule for when they can go on sales. I'm just tired of having to figure out if the game is really worth w/e the dev are asking for it, most of the time I just put it on my wishlist cause most game go on sale so often that it's pretty obvious the regular price is just BS that they put high just so they can slap a discount on it.

There was also that rumor of EA getting pissy with Nintendo not giving them preferential treatment with the Wii U, but I find it suspect.

-This comes after Nintendo boss Reggie Fils-Aime said that loot boxes ?have gotten a bit of a bad rap,? comparing them to ?baseball cards?.
...
-?I can?t say that our fixed-cost model has really been a success,? Miyamoto added
...
-Miyamoto said that ?it?s necessary for developers to learn to get along with? subscription-style services.

I don?t...I guesss I?m not exactly following what he?s really trying to get at here. He apparently doesn?t like F2P, but then the rest of the message seems kinda ambiguous.

-Was he clarifying to not be in agreement with Aimes about loot boxes?

-Does he think Nintendo?s ?fixed cost? model over the years has really been a failure, or is he just being modest?

-Do ongoing subscription fees also fall under that model in his mind?

?Fixed cost? to me means paying once for a game and owning that content for as long as you?d like at no further charge.
