now before i get all the fallow your dreams bits and whatnot, i just want to tell you the backstory. im currently an 8th grader, and since 4th grade Ive been fencing foil, basically a rapeir. well at the end of 6th grade the coach resigned and moved to Washington. well we got a new coach, who is also one of the coaches for the local university. anyway, this new coach has the class focused on saber. a weapon i don't really care for, anyway now that we have the class focused on saber, i feel that i contribute nothing. especially in the team game known as herm...... well the coach (who will be unnamed) saids i cannot stab folks due to the risk of it going past the trap into their throat........ i am really really bummed out at this, sort of. you see i have always felt that i wasn't that good as i was poor both in quick response and reflexes. i have now contemplated quiting at the end of the class section. now escapists should I?????

If you are not having fun or enjoying yourself, then quit. It's as easy as that.

Really this is entirely your choice (as it's your happiness), but as a year 8 student, I say keep at it for at least a few months and see how it goes. You may not be as good, but you still have the ability to develop skills with a Sabre as well as a foil).

If you think it'll interfere with what you have already learned, pick one. Otherwise see what a few months of this will give you.

If you don't like it quit, I was in Cadet Core. Like the program but got Fucked up by leadership stuff and basical everone who was moving up were either kiss asses or was in a reltionship with the one of the officers. Anyways like I say if its not doing it for you anymore then quit.

I used to fance saber, but i actually out grew my kit, was too expensive to replace so stopped competing. Ultimately it's up to you, If you cannot fence the way you want to then perhaps it's time to move on, I mean if i had the chance to keep playing but had to use the epee i would quit on the spot. (bloody hate epee)

Perhaps the main problem you have with the saber is that you would have to start over from the beginning, which isn't nessicarrily a bad thing, yes stabbing is a no no, but the quick reposts and deep slashes can be satisfying.

We can't tell you what to to, we can only tell you what we would.

I used to fence foil too, I'd say stick with it. You might end up liking it, and being in the class gives you the chance to fence with others using a foil. Without being in that class, there is little to no chance.

Then again, if you don't feel you're getting your money's or time's worth, ditch it.

I've always preferred sabre to foil, give it a chance,if your not haveing fun after a while, don't do it anymore.
