I haven't played Star Trek Online since the Romulan Expansion was announced. I have played it a bit off and on and I am a huge Star Trek fan. I hear the game has had some major improvements over the past few years and I want to know what do you think of it?

I havnt played the game for over a year, in fact the last time was just briefly when they started the delta quadrant expansion. Then a major warframe expansion came out and about a year of my life disappeared. Anyway, last time I played it it was still pretty solid space ship combat and had that strong star trek theme from the 80s and 90s shows. STO has always been a good game that you could get back into easily so yeah I think you should give it another go

well they finished up the iconian arc and on the 27th october they are releasing a whole new expansion thing 'a new dawn" that apparently gets back to what is star trek.. explore new worlds sort of thing.
tier 6 ships have been introduced which is the usual reskin and tweak an existing ship and charge people $30 for it thing
personally i didnt like the iconian war expansion but we will see whether the next one keeps people. its a turning point for the game and hopefully not the buggy mess that the delta expansion was

They introduced a "specialization" point system that can only be earned by the character you are currently playing. This pretty much killed the ability to progress alts, since the spec points took along time to earn. I stopped playing around they time they introduced a full-on "pilot" specialization because I enjoyed playing my alts and I got tired of them falling behind in terms of power and ability.
