Should I revert to Pokemon?

I basically grew up from the first generation pokemon games, and stuck to the series religiously throughout my childhood. I stopped in my early teens, mostly due to the fact that people are douche bags, and I had a little of that pre-angst "I'm not a kid anymore, woe is me" crap. Fast forward a couple of years, and all the threads sort of paint a new way to look at the games, building and comparing teams, discussing preferences, plus (I haven't looked that much into it, so I might be wrong.) But the enhanced multiplayer capabilities in the new games make it sound like I could play against my fellow escapists, which would really breathe life back into it for me.

My question is aimed at those who grew up with the games and knowingly tackled the decision of "should I box this up with my childhood?"

Don't abandon Pokémon due to childlike perceptions! It's such a great series, one of the few where I can stand to play a game for over 100 hours.

There's a chance I could be subject to a slight bias, seeing as I hold in hand a copy of Pokémon Black, but I see no reason to stop playing. Besides, now that you're older you can enjoy the more tactical side of it, the thinking and strategic bits.

Plus, come on man. It's goddamn Pokémon.

Pokemon is the most basic rpg. It is an rpg that anyone can enjoy. I would recommend buying the latest installment of Pokemon ie Pokemon Black & White. I would recommend those because they still follow the same basic formula but adds more story and so I am told the diffculty.

I still say the franchise got out of hand after the Gold/Silver/Crystal series. I know I need to catch 'em all, but there are HOW MANY?! But I must say, all this hype makes me want to dig out my SP and play more Pokemon. I still don't feel like shelling out $40 for a new game. I just pre-ordered Brink.

In a word. Yes. I've got White and it's probably the best version so far. Although some of the newer pokemon designs are rubbish (literally, Trubbish anyone?)by and large they're pretty good (there's a bull with an afro :D)

n.b. Team Plasma were right
