Hello,

So my dear friends and fellow gamers. after I beat both Square enix games Human Revolution and Mankind divided. I feel like they should not make any other game. They are putting franchise on hiatus and may never made any other game at all.

first off. Human Revolution was fantastic game if not better than original. it has some shitty elements like third person cover and takedown which mankind divided follow but overall it was excellent game. that game made Eidos montreal a respectable studio. then they made Thief reboot which is one of the biggest joke of decade. took classic stealth franchise and turn into dumbed down crap that panned by critics and gamers alike. then Mankind divided is so so game. but this is the game that is slowly killing my interest in Deus Ex franchise. its shame that Original is to me a single greatest game ever made. and HR was very well game as well. Mankind divided feel like HR DLC that released after 6 years. only 1 hub and location and boss lol. Eidos montreal is one big hit developer. Thief reboot suck, Mankind divided is barely ok. only Human Revolution was amazing game.

Now I think square enix should sell Deus Ex IP. best choice would be either Arkane studio or Otherside entertainment. both companies have old talents from looking glass studio. Otherside studio already making System shock 3 and Arkane are Making PREY. I think either of them should make next Deus Ex game.

what do you think?

I think Eidos Montreal is the right team to make those games. They have the skill and talent, they just need better management. I also think, that SE ingerated too much in the process of making DE:HR. Often publishers think they know better than the developers how to make a games and we end up with half finished product with some crap attached to it and awful marketing. I didn't buy DE:HR for a full price mostly due to the stupid pre-order fiasco and the fact that they wasted resources on stupid breach mode.

A publisher selling a respected IP?

That's a funny joke.

Personally I couldn't give a damn what they do with it. HR and MD were painfully mediocre games that pissed away a lot of potential. If someone else out there wants to make a cyberpunk action/RPG/shooter/whatever then it's not like I'm going to dismiss it because it isn't called Deus Ex.

Chances are CDPR will blow them away with their Cyberpunk game. And that's coming from someone who is lukewarm toward CDPR's games thus far.

but they are no longer making games. they are now making marvel games. there wont be any Deus Ex game in future.

how about night dive studio? they bought system shock and are making system shock remake along with system shock 3 that warren spector in making.

to this. warren spector the original creator of deus ex got the franchise and that would be best for franchise.

Well, that sucks.
Arcane would be fine i think. I don't know much about Night Dive Studio. SS remake they're making looks ok, but having one well known person doesn't mean anything to me.

There's nothing wrong with the IP as it stands. They just treated customers with such giggling contempt and then sold out to Marvel that when they said 'Right, that's it! No more Deus Ex!' we all went 'Yeah alright, that's fair enough.'

I have wondered the same thing for at least other 10 IPs from several AAA publishers that just sit on them instead of making more games. Welcome to the Club!

Mankind Divided wasn't bad but the developers bit off way more than they could chew and the game did little to distinguish itself from Human Revolution(which was also better). A development cycle of 5 years for MD is just ridiculous considering how much of the game was left out. It's a sequel that should have been released a year or 2 years the most after HR considering there is absolutely zero innovation in terms of gameplay or mechanics. Putting so much time and money into production values for a game with much less commercial appeal than, say, Tomb Raider is a waste when sales figures will disappoint and the series(that is still left hanging) is put on an indefinite hiatus.

I wish games like Deus ex and other Eidos IPs that are now owned by Squeenix like Legacy of Kain would be put in a lower development tier so they wouldn't have to meet the high sales projections that only games like Tomb Raider can meet. There is an audience for these games but not one that warrants the budget of a 5 year development cycle. Unfortunately with a lot of these IPs it's either 100+ million dollar AAA titles or smartphone garbage.

I prefer to see results of their work rather then names. If the final version of SS remake turn out great, they'll get some of my trust.

Yes, I have a trust issue.

@stroopwafel

They probably spent huge chunk of that time developing engine and prototyping.

I prefer to judge the results of their work rather then the names they have in team. If the final version of SS remake turns out great, they'll get a bit of my respect and faith.

Square just needs to adopt a hands off approach with their devs. People liked HR precisely because they didn't stick their fingers in and fuck about.

The moment something shows promise they meddle all up in its grill with stupid ass marketing and stupid shit like Breach and well lo behold. Everybody hates it now, or at least wants to hate it cause they have an excuse to do so.

And with the rumours(has there been confirmation?) that DX is going to be on hiatus - it'd be great if the IP was in the hands of another... but I really liked what Eidos Montreal did with HR. It'd feel wrong for them to lose DX and not be able to finish what they started.

At the end of the day, who wants an IP holder to just sit on their IPs and do precisely bugger all with it?

I would prefer they just made the dang game DX:MD effectively promised. If they're not doing that (and it looks like they aren't) then, yeah, sell it to Arkane or some such.

Honestly after playing FF15 and seeing the mess they made with KH, I think square enix really should just sell all their IP and call it quit, it's clear they don't give a fuck at this point.
