So a while back I was lamenting the lack of a really good Doctor Who game. I, however totally think the game would only work as an Adventure Game. The ones on the BBC website are okay, but lets be honest. there is only one company that does point and click adventure games well and that's TellTale

And really why BBC has so much god damn trouble making a GOOD Doctor Who game is just perplexing.

Anyway, I was just watching Adventure Time, and if there was one license IP that would be PERFECT for a Bethesda game it's this. The game is all about Adventure, dungeons, characters, and distant lands... Is there any better game engine for that then the one used by Fallout/Skyrim? I'm just imagining going to the 37th Death World and facing the boss of Death and trying to best him with speech skill.

So what say you Escapist? What forms of media would you like to see made into games, and in what style or what company's care?

How about a Movie that should have a game... Pacific Rim needs a game I think, and maybe the Hawken devs should be the developer?
It did have a game. It apparently wasn't that good.

Can I cheat and use a movie? Well, I'll say one of both to cover my ass.

Movie- Black Hawk Down
Company- Infinity Ward

Now hear me out. If IW had its' feet tied (and I mean fucking cemented) to a believable story, had to use realistic guns (a fucking nuke, really?), and brought their tight weapon controls to the table it could be the most epic game in existence. It would have to follow the movie's story though, no artistic freedom for you IW!

Show- Burn Notice
Company- Bethesda

It would have to be open world and have believable gunplay, stealth and the like. If Fallout 3/NV had CoD-esq gunplay the stage would be set. Needs a lot of side quests too, as anyone who watched the series could tell you.

I've maintained since I saw it that "Attack on Titan" would make a genre-defining AAA game. I know it has a few budget tie-in games that are exclusive to japan, but a full studio and budget could make use of all the potential it has. Enemies and scenery reminiscent of "Shadow of the colossus", and the 3-d motion devices would work well with an action game build like InFamous, with some spider man thrown in.

Seriously, everything about that show would convert to game in a kickass way. XD

Pacific Rim: Firaxis, just make it like X-COM, you prepare your shit at the base and then off they go in a turn base strategy fight to be mauled by various aliens.

Futurama: Bioware, just make it like Mass Effect, you interact with your crew and their personal shit and off you go to various planets (each being like a self contained episode).

The Simpsons: Rockstar, one thing that I would like out of a Simpsons game is to feel like I am in Springfield and Rockstar at the moment is the best at creating a living city.

Archer: Obsidian Entertainment, basicly do Alpha Protocol again but not shit.

I'd like to see a game based on the show Supernatural.

Make it happen Rockstar.

Rurouni Kenshin! Yes, yes, I know, there's already a handful of Kenshin games out there, but I'm pretty sure there's no western ports of them for the major consoles (I think there's a couple for some handheld gaming devices, of which I own none). I'd love to see a Kenshin fighting game made by either Capcom for a 2D fighting game or Team Ninja for a 3D fighting game (Team Ninja because DoA has my favorite fighting mechanics of any fighting game...and I'm not talking about jiggle physics)

There was a Futurama game for the PS2, in which you played as Fry, Bender, Leela, and even (for one unique level) Dr. Zoidberg.

It had some pretty good humour, a pretty good plot, and pretty good gameplay.

Johnny bravo

made by a very misogynistic developer

jokes aside, someone ninja'd me and said supernatural already, I'd personally love a game like that (if they followed the main story or not is up to them, regardless there is plenty of atmosphere/immersiveness to start with either way) although I wouldn't want it by rockstar personally, they make good sandbox games, but I feel like supernatural would lose it's humor/charm when played too loosely like that. I'd probably like it if Square Enix had it, they did a great job with Deus Ex and I feel like supernatural could somewhat follow the same veins of the gameplay/style.

RWBY should have a game and it should be made by Vanillaware. Imagine a 2D action-adventure game similar to Dragon's Crown and Muramasa Rebirth but with the characters of RWBY as the playable characters. It could be great!

I was thinking about the same series as you, but rather make it an RPG, it already looks a lot like the cut-scenes of a JRPG. I would like to see this made by the same people responsible for Tales of Xillia which ies under Namco Bandai.

I haven't played Tales so I can't really judge whether that would specifically work, but the series could definitely work as an RPG. I thought it would work as an action game better though because the best feature of the series is the unique styles of combat. Many of them (e.g. Blake's) I feel would be easier to do in a 2D setting rather than a 3D. Maybe a 2D action RPG? That could work :D

The reason I suggest the developers of Tales of Xillia is that the animation style in their cut scenes is really similar to RWBY's, but sadly the gameplay would be quite different, but it would mean playing as 4 party teams where the ones you don't control will be controlled by the AI which fits the series perfectly. The problem with an action game is that it would be hard to accomplish the team mechanics using AI controlled characters. However I do like your idea of making it a 2D action RPG in order to make the combat more like the show.

Either Tales combat or 2D action is fine, I would probably buy it regardless.

Well Archer, obviously, and it should look just like this:

Just add a bit of humour.

Oh, and Danger 5, and it should be... exactly like the show.

Yeah, but it really missed the essence of the show in the gameplay part, as if it was like Mass Effect that stuff would transfer nicely (when I think of Futurama I think of either space adventures in weird planets and personal episodes about the characters relations with eachother, not platforming and shooting bad guys).

The game as it was ended up being Futurama only in the cutscenes and a typical platformer in gameplay the same way most games from shows are. Shows usually are a lot more talkative with much less focus on action so a game to feel like it it really needs to tranfer that focus to a more talkative game (like Mass Effect).

It wasnt a bad game (like you said it was good) but it still isnt the example of what a game from a show can achieve to be (maybe South Park changes it).

There's been a Futurama game back in the PS2 days [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futurama_%28video_game%29], personally I thought it was pretty good (although others disagree). That said a new game would be cool, although I think the Mass Effect formula is a little serious for Futurama and putting a load of episodes worth of material into one game would be hugely time consuming.

There's also been a couple of dozen Simpson games including Simpsons Skateboarding, Virtual Springfield, and Simpsons Hit and Run, all of which allowed exploration around Springfield. As good as Rockstar are at creating worlds they have no experience (that I can think of) with taking an existing universe and making it into a game plus the humour in their games isn't really the same as Simpsons humour. To be honest I think the Simpsons' best days are well behind us now and not even the writers could get back the original spirit of Springfield in a game.

Personally I'd quite like a game of Jericho or Farscape, both as big open world sandbox games but I have no idea who the right studio for them would be, possibly BioWare for Farscape and Bethesda for Jericho.
