I have this ability to start a MMO and get bored with it in a matter of months. and when i was promted to give them a little info of what I thought about this game I said this...

The Zones of City of Heros/Villians were very unbalanced with having to go to a mission instance area that was about twice the difficulty than you were used to as you progressed through the city not doing missions. As much as I love beating on enemies all day like Lineage 2 (WoW, Guild Wars, Etc.) players do (which i don't) I found that there was no real stradegy needed to defeat a group of gangers who really shouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a barn at low levels. The number in a group of enemies ranged from 2 to half a million and seemed like they were waiting for midnight on Halo 3's Release date.

I saw quite a bit of "role-playing" while in Atlas Park as every player and their little brother was sitting around doing nothing but jab way about no real topic (Oh! and sporatic display of powers every second). I can't quite wrap my head around the notion of sitting in one spot all day paying 15 Dollars each month. Might as well release a game called Chatroom Online. There is always one area in every MMORPG where a person goes to grind to the next level only to have his or her brain caved in with a 20 pound sledgehammer that I call the "Barrens Effect". Upon entering one of these zones you instantly feel your brain ooze out of your skull, as you lose IQ points every Nanosecond until you turn off the chat function.

The combat was about was fast as a brain dead turtle. and while I respect the game's Enhancement system. A person new to this kind of game will soon find themselves calling 911 as they attract more .50 caliber rounds than iron dust to a magnet. One of the problems with the game, in general, is the fact that I can't see how much a power is going to change with different enhancements. Only an overall improvement, I found this as helpful as repairing my Xbox 360 with a power drill while drunk. While there was some fun in exploring the sights of the city i would to have liked to have picked up someone's brand new car and beat some bad guy in the head with it.

Is this a review or something else?
I said in the beginning of the post that I "give them a little info of what I thought about this game".

I played COH/V for two years and I'd have to say I disagree with almost everything in that review.

Perhaps the 'sitting around' was part of the 'roleplaying'...you know MMORPG?

I would try to explain what you missed, dreadfully, but I don't get the feeling you'd want to know, you just wanted to be bitter.

COH > WoW, anyday.

I bought CoV, but found I didn't have time to get the most for my money, so I canceled my subscription after about two months. They kept charging me for sometime, and I didn't realize it till around month 12. They were good about refunding the money, but they charged me again the next two-month cycle, so I'm a little peeved at them.

I enjoy the occasional MMORPG, but I've never enjoyed them enough to spend the time to get my money's worth every month. Whenever I get the urge to level grind, I pop into my much-neglected no-monthly-charge Guild Wars account and dick around for a day or two. I'm with Murray: I can't justify paying that much money just to hang out with the guild/faction/whatever.

As a diligent CoH/V player I've go some stuff to say. Your, um, "review" was both spot on and completly off. Unfortunately placed missions and the "me shoot you, bangbang" enemies are a problem. I agree that there are many CoH/V'ers that are in need of some good anti-retardation drugs, but that's the way it is with any online game.

But to truely enjoy CoH/V you need your immagination. Ask any player where their character got their powers and they'll give you some sort of story. Perhaps your dude has a thing for picking up thugs or has an espically strong beef against the local scorcerers, the circle of thorns. CoH/V has story to it, you just have to know where to look. True, all this love goo may be comming out of my embarassing superhero stiffy, but oh well.

You may wanna check out the Champions Online preview at IGN, this may have your Hero MMORPG hopes back up.

You're entitled to your opinion.

That said, I felt that your review *way* overused the analogies. And they weren't even good analogies. Some of your sentence structure could use some work, as your meaning wasn't always clear, and you don't back up your opinions with examples, which is something I'd want if I were reading your review to get an idea of how the game worked.

You can do better, I'm sure of it.

Personally I enjoy CoH when I have the money to play. I find it as a casual MMO, or you can go hardcore and become like the "traditional" MMOers, the drooling "RAER DROPS" persona. And it's easy to switch from RPing to casual "LOOK, AN OGRE" gameplay. Overall worth the money, I'm just poor.

CoV/H is by far one of the more expensive to play MMOs isn't it. I remember EQ2 being high as well, but even it wasn't as bad.
I'm pretty sure the MMO standard now is $15.00 a month for most of the next-gen (read: last gen) stuff. WoW, CoX, EQ2 (I had thought), Tabula Rasa, etc.

Proofreading, man!

An amusing review, though... having waited in line for Halo 3 on release night (Hey, my younger brother needed someone there, you know? I did it with Halo 2, so why not?), I found that comment particularly funny.
