I have this ability to start a MMO and get bored with it in a matter of months. and when i was promted to give them a little info of what I thought about this game I said this...
The Zones of City of Heros/Villians were very unbalanced with having to go to a mission instance area that was about twice the difficulty than you were used to as you progressed through the city not doing missions. As much as I love beating on enemies all day like Lineage 2 (WoW, Guild Wars, Etc.) players do (which i don't) I found that there was no real stradegy needed to defeat a group of gangers who really shouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a barn at low levels. The number in a group of enemies ranged from 2 to half a million and seemed like they were waiting for midnight on Halo 3's Release date.
I saw quite a bit of "role-playing" while in Atlas Park as every player and their little brother was sitting around doing nothing but jab way about no real topic (Oh! and sporatic display of powers every second). I can't quite wrap my head around the notion of sitting in one spot all day paying 15 Dollars each month. Might as well release a game called Chatroom Online. There is always one area in every MMORPG where a person goes to grind to the next level only to have his or her brain caved in with a 20 pound sledgehammer that I call the "Barrens Effect". Upon entering one of these zones you instantly feel your brain ooze out of your skull, as you lose IQ points every Nanosecond until you turn off the chat function.
The combat was about was fast as a brain dead turtle. and while I respect the game's Enhancement system. A person new to this kind of game will soon find themselves calling 911 as they attract more .50 caliber rounds than iron dust to a magnet. One of the problems with the game, in general, is the fact that I can't see how much a power is going to change with different enhancements. Only an overall improvement, I found this as helpful as repairing my Xbox 360 with a power drill while drunk. While there was some fun in exploring the sights of the city i would to have liked to have picked up someone's brand new car and beat some bad guy in the head with it.
The End
