Side effects from gaming too long.

So I was recently thinking about how doing something like reading a book your really into or playing a game you really like for too long can have some funny side effects. Like weird things that you do or see afterwards.

So the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me was that I was playing way too much Oblivion and got the habit of quicksaving every 20 seconds or so (since my computer could barely run it and I had no idea when it might crash) and when I stopped playing I started doing this thing in real life that at random intervals I would try to quicksave. I would try to reach down and press the qiucksave key, only to remember that I wasn't in a game and that I couldn't. It was a weird experience and I haven't played a game for more than 4 hours straight since then, even if 4 hours is still too long.

World of Warcraft made me attempt to grind my way through life and start seeing the XP bare consantly until I remembered what fun games wear like, and all those people in my guild talking about Naruto made me watch the English dub of Naruto on Cartoonnetwork and almost put me off of anime.

Back when I was playing far too much Battlefield 2 over one summer, I came back to uni, got massively drunk on a night out and ended up getting carried home.

Which was made a lot harder for my housemates by the fact I kept stubbornly stopping, insisting it wasn't safe to advance because there would be artillery ahead of us...

I don't get confused when out and about, but after playing Assassin's creed for a coupla days I kept trying to climb all the buildings and catch ledges in CoD4 multiplayer.

The only side effect for me is that my left eye occasionally gets kinda bloodshot.

Sorry :)

Dizzyness from lack of fresh air and sunlight some bloodshot eyes and a sore back from curling in all sorts of weird positions while gaming.
further more when I play games like Tetris or Puzzle Bobble beforwe I go to sleep I start playing the game in my head. As if my head runs Tetris too.

I was over at a friend's house, who has been playing Left For Dead almost every waking hour he has, especially since Survivor mode came out. I was in the chair, and he lent over me to grab the mouse, and he kept clicking, even though it wasn't on anything. I got annoyed, asked him to stop, then started laughing hysterically when we both realised that he'd been doing it unconsciously.

We watched bemusedly as his finger clicked out its last twitches. I think he's going to take short breaks now. Well, he said he might.

Other then that, all I've had is sore fingers from playing Paper Mario. Damn action commands! I had a blister on my thumb from tapping A.

Didn't you ever wish for a Hearthstone?

... I sure did.
I second this.

Yeah I'm constantly hearing that "Bleep Bloop" and one time I actually said out loud "ooh I just got an Achievement!" Much to the dismay and confusion of the friends I was with. Lol one of the xbox playing ones actually asked me which one! :p

Back when I played GH3 obsessively, I would see frets everywhere, dream them up, and even see them in my head when I listened to my favorite songs.

I've played for hours on end, only side effect was a dead 360, which is why I have a PS3, just came off (well a few days ago now) a 9 hour God of War II stint
