bah. more of America completely missing the point of Silent Hill. (the video, not OP)

I do think the book of your whole life was pretty interesting, though.

one thing they probably should do; of a no doubt long list, I'm sure; is make it that, based on how you decide your character looks, the world is completely different for you; probably ranging from several different presets; with certain items that can only be found in that version of the world, but will be needed universally to progress.

the whole co-op hack'n'slash/shoot'em-uo thing; not working for SH. and also not nearly dark enough.

As a huge fan of Silent Hill, I don't mind this. The series needs to experiment and try new things or else it will stagnate. It's really unfortunate that a lot of people just want the same game over and over again. I probably won't play it because I have no interest in the PS Vita or whatever it's called. But it's existence doesn't bother me in the slightest, just like how the existence of the Konami published/developed light-gun, on-rails arcade game doesn't make me lose sleep at night.

And I love how when a Non-Japanese developed SH game comes out a bunch of people automatically start complaining about how the games lost it's "Asian influence" or something like that. Did these people play the first few SH games with their eyes closed? Did they not read all the interviews with the Team Silent members who said the games were basically love-letters to American movies like Jacob's Ladder and the films of David Lynch? Not to mention all those streets named after American and British horror writers. Probably the most "Asian" SH game is the fourth one which I may remind you wasn't originally suppose to be an SH game. Talk about missing the point. I'm not saying there's no Asian-horror influences in the games, but if you think that's the one major influence then you're probably one of those types who read nothing but manga and dream of living in Japan despite the fact that a lot of people in Japan hate foreigners.

Stoped watching when I saw the gameplay.

Yes, played all of them (bought a PS2 actualy to play them, my PC was shait back then). This is terrible. Ow well, yanks get a hold of a psychological horror genre and this is the result :)

I was like, "A book detailing your life? That sounds pretty--"
"--focusing on cooperative multiplayer action rather than traditional psychological horror."

...Oh.

I dunno. That book things sounds pretty interesting, but the mechanics really don't lend themselves well to the Silent Hill games. The thing that concerns me most is the focus on multiplayer cooperative action rather than psychological horror. I suspect that the game well sell like crap because of that. Thought this isn't the strangest game to come out of the franchise (the first person lightgun shooter and visual novel, anyone?) it certainly ranks up there. Still think Downpour looks like it will be great, despite all this.

My reaction exactly. I could see this sort of game working as a Resident Evil title given the way that franchise has evolved, but Silent Hill? It just doesn't seem right.

I don't know, while I'm annoyed they've seem to gone down a very bizarre path, I actually have some glimmer of hope. Maybe change is what the series really needs?

You know what? This would be a great idea for a game if it had literally nothing to do with SIlent Hill. As it is though, it's far too removed from... anything the series has established for itself.

The book is an interesting premise but what does it actually have to do with Silent Hill? Other then the nightmare being in the Otherworld and the return of a few monsters/items. Just cut Silent Hill off the title and sell it as its own thing.

Still looking forward to the HD remakes though. Voice acting went from one extreme to the other based on the preview: Went from stiff and robotic to overemphasized, but still looking forward to it.

I liked how you make your own person, however no matter how hard they try it will never have as much atmosphere as the others because you got someone there with you.

They could of made a interesting silent hill game by combining the shattered memories mechanic of things changing based in actions and with a person you make your self would made the horror more personal, but no they gone for a top down action shooter. If I want silent hill co-op i will play the left 4 dead silent hill campaign, which is scary when the only light you have is the one on the gun and you can hear hunters lurking about, and the ghost WITCH!!!!.

Can someone explain to me WHY this HAS to be a SILENT HILL GAME???

I like the concept and all, and I would be totally for it if it wasn't a silent hill game, I mean, what the hell is this?

*cries bitterly*
