Not too sure. I've never played the Silent Hill series to the point where I appreciated it. I did however pick up Silent Hill 2 out of curiosity since it was receiving high appraisal from a good amount of people. Needless to say, it really wasn't my thing. Too many obscure puzzles, the enemies weren't frightening, yet the story was some-what interesting.

I've had thoughts of seeing how the third one is, yet I can't pull myself to actually like the series.

I think I'll just stick with the older Resident Evil games.

Nah, not really. Tried getting into the later ones but its bloody difficult to even find them tollerable. But yeah, something along the lines of what PlasmaFrog said. If they released Resident Evil Outbreak File #3 on one of the modern console (Not the Wii, dont be ridiculous) with online play then that would be awesome, I always prefered Resident Evil back when it was a Horror game anyway.

There, now no one else has to subject themselves to searching up the trailer for this game.

It looks interesting. Having recently finished Amnesia I've been keen to try some more horror games so I'll probably give this one a shot.

While I would *love* to see another SH2, and I did enjoy Homecoming, Shattered Memories, and Origins in a "Dead Space Horror" way, I'm hesitant to be excited about Downpour. If they bring back the atmosphere, hell yes, I'll be over that. But SH2 is still a favorite, and Amnesia's wonderful horror is still in memory. That's why I go to the shrink every other day, so it *won't* be.

We'll have to see how they handle it. I'm not expecting as much, though. Is it going to be good? Yes, of course. But is it worth the Silent Hill branding? Maybe.

I know what you mean, although I did not enjoy Homecoming as much as I thought I would. My favorite has been the second one so far as well. Amnesia was pretty good too, and I highly recommend Nightmare House 2 if you liked Amnesia.

I know they are trying a lot of different things with SH:D so that makes me a little nervous. But at the same time I am curious as to how it will turn out. So far, for me, no other SH has lived up to SH2, just yet. I haven't gotten to try Shattered Memories or Origins yet, are they worth it?

I am a bit of a silent hill fan, and although a lot of people didn't like it I thought Homecoming was pretty good. Am keeping an eye on this one.

It shows promise. Though I'm being cautious.
This. Origins and Homecoming was too disappointing for me to just ignore and trust.
This and this. Suffering from "thrice burned, 6 times shy" or whatever the proverb equivalent of being let down repeatedly is. The Room was different and neat (I liked it) but wasn't exactly top notch, Homecoming was atrocious, everything I've heard about Origins is bad news, and though I hear good things about Shattered Memories, it's hard to get my hopes back up.

Plus with Akira Yamaoka gone and everything... I mean, his soundtrack made Silent Hill.

Then again, this game shows a lot of promise, from the setting to the characters, and the trailer looks pretty great so far. Cautiously optimistic is my feelings towards it.

If the voice acting is better.

I would have loved Silent Hill 2 if it wasn't for the immersion breaking main character.

This one looks better than Homecoming. Honestly, the last Silent Hill I played was Silent Hill 3. 4 wasn't set in the town, and watching Yatzhee's review, combined with other factors, on Homecoming shot that game in the head for me. This one though, it looks like they're trying to recapture the feel of Silent Hill. If that's the case, I will give them a chance.
