Silent Hill: Homecoming

Just curious, has anyone played this yet? Their seems to be mixed reviews about this game (which leads me to believe Yahtzee will rip this game a new one). I'm picking this up tomorrow. I'm optimistic about the game though, but I'm just intrigued to see what other people have to say about this game (You know, who AREN'T official reviewers).

I really don't understand the gaming press when it comes to survival horror. For years they've moaned about "clunky" & "unresponsive" combat, and now the combat has been changed they're moaning that it's too easy and not scary enough... whatever. (I'm referring to the IGN review here, if anyone else has read it).

I've ordered my copy from North America. God knows when it'll arrive but I'm looking forward to it (even if my expectations are rather low).

Yeah I didn't get that either. However, I can understand the whole "being-scared-and-incompetent-in-combat" thing. But I'm sure it'll be fun to play this game while actually having common sense in combat.

Silent Hill's games always had mixed reviews. It always had a specific audience, you will have to play it to know if its good.

I like the SH series, and I confess to misgivings when they said they were raising the bar for combat. I wondered if a too-capable protagonist would lessen the experience. I'm not sure if I want to buy this one yet. Games are too expensive now just to indulge in franchise love.

Yahtzee will probably rip it to shreds, but I don't think he's unfair, just a little brutal.
